Please join us in sending our congratulations to CWTC students Ruthanne Metzger & Shawn Muraira on making their mainstage debut at the Fulton Theatre this summer! ๐Ÿ‘

They took part in the Fulton's RISE: Broadway Intensive last month, which culminated in a showcase titled ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ ๐˜‰๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ: ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด, performed twice in the historical Fulton Theatre in Lancaster. We are thankful for opportunities like these, and so proud of our students. โœจ๏ธ

We LOVE to see our company members shine on and off our stage, whatever the endeavor. If you are a current CWTC student, and would like to share your summer plans with us, we would love to hear it! ๐ŸŒž Feel free to DM with info.

It's the final day of our American Story series, and we are wrapping up the holiday weekend with a look at

๐˜š๐˜ถ๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ด brings to life the fierce and steadfast women of the suffrage movement who fought relentlessly for the 19th Amendment. While it shines a light on their unwavering commitment and bravery in the face of adversity, it also tells the story of the deep divisions within the movement itself, highlighting the struggles of black women, who faced a double burden of racism and sexism. And in the end, it underscores a powerful truth: progress isn't won overnight. It is a relay race, with the baton being passed from one generation to the next. The showโ€™s ultimate message is clear. The work continues, and itโ€™s up to all of us to "keep marching." ๐Ÿชง

๐ŸŽญ Fun Fact: Shaina Taub is only the second woman in Broadway history to completely write the book, music, lyrics, AND star in her own musical! (The first was Micki Grant for ๐˜‹๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ'๐˜ต ๐˜‰๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜”๐˜ฆ, ๐˜ ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ฏ'๐˜ต ๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ in 1972.)

๐Ÿ‘‡ Trivia Time: The climax of the historic vote in Tennessee famously came down to a single state legislator who changed his mind at the last second. What convinced him to flip his vote? Drop your answer in the comments below!

It's 4th of July, and Day Three of our American Story series lands on the 250th "birthday" of the USA! So, it only makes sense that we dive right into the fight for independence with ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ! โญ

๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ completely redefined how we look at the birth of our country. By using modern music and diverse casting to tell a historic story, they not only made important strides in representation, but engaged a young fanbase in a way that past musicals had rarely done. All this, while highlighting a truth that has been part of the American experiment from the very beginning: this country was built on a ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ drive and grit. Itโ€™s a powerful reminder that the fight to create a new nation belonged to everyone willing to roll up their sleeves and demand change. And as Lin-Manuel Miranda makes clear in his lyrics, immigrants like Hamilton & Lafayette most certainly "got the job done." ๐Ÿซธโœจ๐Ÿซท

๐ŸŽญ Fun Fact: ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ is famously one of the fastest-paced musicals in theatre history. If it were sung at a "traditional" speed, it would take between 4 & 6 hours to perform! Instead, it crams 20,000+ words into 2 1/2 hours. In fact, the song "Guns and Ships" holds the record for the fastest song in Broadway history, with Lafayette rapping at a staggering pace of 6.3 words PER SECOND!

๐Ÿ‘‡ Trivia Time: Before Hamilton became a global phenomenon on Broadway, it had a critically acclaimed, sold-out run Off-Broadway. Who can name the historic NYC theatre where ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ first premiered? Drop your guesses in the comments below!

๐ŸŽ‰ The celebration isn't over yet! Look out for a special bonus day tomorrow to round out your holiday weekend!

Independence Day weekend is approaching, and weโ€™re celebrating the best way we know how: through musical theatre! ๐ŸŽ† Over the next three days, weโ€™re diving into the music and stories behind some of the musicals that shine a light on the American story. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Day Two takes us to the turn of the 20th century with ๐˜™๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ!

If 1776 was about the birth of our nation, ๐˜™๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ is about its growing pains. This masterpiece weaves together three distinct perspectives: a wealthy white suburban family, a Jewish immigrant family, and a black musician from Harlem, to capture the colliding forces of history, hope, and the pursuit of the American Dream.

๐ŸŽญ Fun Fact: When ๐˜™๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ first opened on Broadway in 1998, it was a MASSIVE production, featuring a cast of 50+ actors, a 28-piece orchestra, and a full-sized, functional replica of a 1909 Model T Ford that was driven onto the stage every night!

๐Ÿ‘‡ Trivia Time: The actor who performed the role of Sarah in the original 1998 Broadway cast went on to become a musical theatre legend who received more performance Tonys than any other actor in history. Who can name this Broadway icon in the comments below?

Independence Day weekend is approaching, and weโ€™re celebrating the best way we know how: through musical theatre! ๐ŸŽ† Over the next four days, weโ€™re diving into the music and stories behind four musicals that shine a light on the American story. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

We have to start at the beginning with 1776! ๐Ÿ”” Long before ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ, this show took the dusty portraits of the Founding Fathers and turned them into real, passionate people wrestling with the intent, the compromises, and the messy reality of building a nation.

๐ŸŽญ Fun Fact: It's incredibly rare, but the 1972 film adaptation of 1776 kept almost all its original Broadway cast, including the legendary William Daniels, reprising his lead role as John Adams!

๐Ÿ‘‡ Trivia Time: Years later, William took on a totally different, iconic role as a beloved educator on a popular 90's sitcom. Who can name the character and the show in the comments below?
