Hey friends, I figure I'll ask here before I do the marketplace search...

Anyone have an old coal burning stove they'd like to be rid of? I'll come get it if its in ok shape. Looking for cheap/free if possible, as it will be set up in the classroom area for the homeschool classes for blacksmithing here at the shop.

I offer these classes on a "pay what you can" basis, as I know alotta homeschool families live on a tight budget, and I wanna offer these kids a fun historical field trip activity that won't break mom and dad's finances. As such, anything I can get to support this program that is cheap/free is super appreciated, even if I need to apply some elbow grease to get it running again.

We now have the capability to take cards! This will make it easier for you to sign up for classes and memberships!

Attention East Idaho locals!

We now accept cards (again) here at the shop for local sales!

It took us a bit to get our POS system (what a fantastic double meaning there, I bet you can tell how much I hated our old setup. 😂) back up and running, but now we are able to make it much easier for you to pay and get your cookware and utensil fix when visiting the Blacksmith Shop here in Roberts, Idaho!

Attention Students and Parents:

Picture and videos of students at the forge are optional and can be taken and sent to you by staff during class so you can keep them for scrapbooking and such! Just ask us!

Also, it is our policy to NOT post these pictures on social media without your permission!

Student Safety and their Internet Privacy is our highest priority!

While we have social media and make use of it, we believe that Parents have every right to control their child's exposure to it! We fervently believe that, as we, too, keep our babies off of social media for their safety!

Our policy is to default to NOT posting pictures. We will ALWAYS ask prior to making a post about your student in a class! For group photos, we will happily blur faces and omit names if you should desire!

This is Emerson, 14 years old. 💪

Emerson just took a B1 Blacksmithing unit here at McMurry School of Iron and now has an excellent foundation of safety, technique, and procedure upon which to build his skills in the trade! He made a hook and fire poker on his first day in the forge, drawing upon the theories and practices he learned during the classroom session, and finished it on day two with a very nice twisted handle steak flipper and long handled spoon with punched and drifted hang hole. He made HUGE strides in his hammer theory in a very short time and put those techniques to use and made some very nice pieces in the forge! Great job, Emerson!

Huge thanks to SouthCo Metals in Idaho Falls for donating some steel drops for student use in the Homeschool classes! They even had a section of pipe that I plan to turn into more student propane forges!

We can't thank you enough for supporting the school and metalwork education for young people!
