RCPS families, we are aware that last year's Parent Handbook calendar, which included dates for August 2026, incorrectly lists Friday, August 28, 2026, as a non-student/non-teacher day. Schools are open tomorrow, Friday, August 28. The non-student/non-teacher day is next Friday, September 4.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. The good news is that this year's Parent Handbook is currently being printed and will be delivered to schools within the next two weeks. In the meantime, the digital version is available at rcps.info/parenthandbook, and the most current calendar information is always available at rcps.info/calendar.

🚘 Lastly, we ask for your patience during the first couple weeks of school. There will likely be some delays outside our control as the entire Roanoke community gets used to school being in session and buses being back on the road. Car riders, please follow your school's drop-off and pick-up procedures to avoid blocking bus entrances.

Sol Showcase Part 2.

Eagles gathered tonight to get ready for SOLs next week! 💙 Students and families explored interactive stations like test-taking strategies, nutrition and sleep, affirmations, goal setting, and hands-on test tools practice. Our counselors also shared helpful resources for managing test-taking anxiety.

Families also had the chance to view and celebrate student presentations from the past few weeks—showcasing all the hard work our 3rd–5th graders have put in. We’re feeling prepared, supported, and ready to “croc” the SOLs!

It was a big day for the Eagles chess team last Saturday. Our team was second place and one of our students placed first overall!
