BIG NEWS FOR HVHS CHORALE!

We are thrilled to announce that the Hidden Valley High School Chorale, our advanced treble choir, has been selected to perform at the 2026 Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Conference in Richmond, Virginia this November!

This is one of the highest honors a school music ensemble in Virginia can receive. Only a select number of ensembles across the entire state are chosen through a competitive audition process that includes multiple years of recorded performances showcasing musical excellence and artistry.

HVHS Chorale is proud to represent Hidden Valley, Roanoke County, and all of Southwest Virginia as the only choral ensemble selected from our side of the state.

This achievement reflects years of hard work, superior performances, dedicated students, supportive families, and a commitment to musical excellence. We are incredibly proud of these singers and excited to share their music on the state stage.

Congratulations to our Chorale students! 💙🎶

We are so proud of our senior, Lillian “Lily” Stanley!

Lily has been in choir for seven years. Choir has been so important to her because it has given her a place to do what she loves every other day for the past seven years. Through choir, she has learned not only about music, but also about herself and how meaningful music is in her life.

After high school, Lily plans to attend James Madison University to study Speech-Language Pathology.

One of Lily’s favorite choir memories is attending All-Virginia Choir. Although it is difficult for her to choose a favorite song she has sung in choir, she says it is between “If Ever I Would Leave You” and “Solstice Song” (although she says she will never stop talking about “Chili Con Carne”).

Choir will continue to play a significant role in Lily’s future as she plans to stay heavily involved in music throughout college and hopefully for the rest of her life.

We are so proud of our senior, May Lubeck!

May has been in choir for four years. She loves the community that choir offers and has enjoyed making many meaningful friendships through it. Most of all, she has appreciated the musical aspect of choir and the satisfaction of watching a piece come together through hard work and dedication.

We are so proud of our senior, Isabella “Isa” Hedges!

Isa has been involved in choir since 6th grade and returned for her senior year. Choir is important to her because she loves singing and enjoys having a creative outlet alongside academics and sports. She says choir has helped make her a more well-rounded student and person.

After high school, Isa plans to attend the University of Virginia to study biology on a pre-med track. She hopes to become a physician in the future.

Her favorite choir memory was competing in Richmond during her sophomore year. She loved getting to shop with friends, perform with such a talented choir, and listen to other high-level choirs perform. Her favorite choir piece is “Omnia Sol” because of how hard the choir worked to perfect it and how rewarding the final performance felt.

Choir has also helped Isa develop a deeper appreciation for music and styles she would not normally listen to. She hopes to possibly continue singing in choir at UVA and says the bonds created within a choir section are something truly special.
