FEBRUARY IS OLYMPIC HISTORY MONTH
Today February 5 2026 US 🇺🇸 Women’s ICE Hockey kicked off its first game against Czechia 🇨🇿 Now, there’s a group of women who know what a woman is. They are strong and athletic, and all the correct gender, because the Olympics don’t play that nonsense. And on top of that, ICE was everywhere,😁, and nobody was protesting ICE there. But there was a riot going on in the rink, two competing teams, battling to win a game that hits a small rubber puck with a stick into the net. I bet those women carry a hockey puck around in their pocket all year long.🤣.
Women’s Ice Hockey in the Olympics
It wasn’t until the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan that women’s ice hockey became an official Olympic event. The tournament featured six teams: Canada, the United States, Finland, Sweden, China, and Japan. The United States claimed the first-ever gold medal in women’s ice hockey, while Canada and Finland took home silver and bronze, respectively.
Since then, women’s ice hockey has become a highly anticipated event at the Winter Olympics. The sport has continued to evolve and gain popularity, with more countries fielding competitive teams and more opportunities for FEMALE athletes to pursue their dreams.
Currently, 10 countries participate in women’s ice hockey at the Olympics. These include Canada, the United States, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, China, and the Czech Republic.
The United States has won a total of 9 medals in women’s ice hockey at the Olympics, including 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. They are currently ranked second in the world behind Canada 🍁 🇨🇦.
