Big news! Mrs. Brittney Lopez has stepped up to take over the WAR office as secretary. Her first hand in-depth knowledge of our processes, jCampus, students, as well as her degrees in accounting and office systems will provide us the support we need to continue on our path to excellence. The quality of candidates that we attracted was fantastic! GEAUX WARPUPS!

If this was any other day of school, it would have still been a good day. As first days of school go, it was a fantastic one. There were a few speed bumps along the way, but now that everyone has gone through their schedule, the rest of the year should be smooth sailing. We can’t wait to dig in to the meat of the school year on Monday. The administrators talked to all three grades, students got to go through the concussion presentation and the PBIS presentation, and we had a successful crisis drill and fire drill. Have a restful weekend because we get down to business on Monday.

If you weren’t sure, there are two big reasons that WAR is the most beautiful school and campus in the district (and surrounding districts). Mr. Anthony and Mr. Sonnier make it their daily mission to continue to beautify an already beautiful campus. Their work ethic, attention to detail, and love for this campus is clear. Here’s to another great start to the school year because of all of the behind the scenes work these two men did all summer.

08/14/2026

WAR is practicing a “shelter in place” as we would if there was a train accident that caused us to be advised to shelter in place as well as a fire drill. This is only a drill and the students know it is only a drill. We apologize for any inconvenience or alarm, but we are accessing our crisis readiness. We will resume normal school activities as soon as we have made our assessment around the campus. We will let everyone know when we are “all clear” once our compliance check is done.

WE ARE ALL CLEAR AND BACK TO SCHOOL BUSINESS.

The faculty and staff are beyond excited to get this year underway.

WAR is ready for action! This will be another phenomenal year of achievement and growth.

WARPUPS need to get a good nights sleep and be confident that tomorrow will unfold in a low stress and organized way.

-LEAP FREE DRESS
I can assure everyone that we will not have to chase down student free dress all year. We will establish a few firm expectations and follow them.
=Shorts fingertip length or longer
=School appropriate shirts and outerwear
=Leggings are only allowed if the shirt goes at least mid-thigh
=No clothes that are “shredded” or show the skin underneath
=No flip flops, slides, crocs, pajamas, or blankets
***We will quickly remedy the dress code issue or students will lose those privileges for the year. Know that it will break our heart to revoke free dress privileges, but they can absolutely try again for next year.

HOODIES
Hoodies are allowed on LEAP Free dress, Big Dress Days, and WAR PTO $2 dress days.

-breakfast will be served tomorrow as far as we know
-parents/guardians please make sure your student knows how they will be leaving WAR tomorrow (shuttle bus to elementary, car rider, walker, or a route bus home directly from WAR)
-our bells are set to cell phone time to help everyone be on the same page
-the first bell rings at 7:40 to be in class, the bell to start first hour rings at 7:44. Please have your arrivals in the front door by 7:35 as a rule of thumb (7:30 if they want to eat breakfast). This gives them a chance to take care of personal business.

We have a plan in place for this school year that continues the tradition of building on previous year's successes to maximize student achievement. We also want our incoming 6th graders (and parents) to be as low stress as possible to start the year.
