Home of the Knights Cave Spring High School first opened in 1956 at the site of the current Cave Spring Middle School on Brambleton Avenue in SW Roanoke County.
A new building was built for the high school and it was moved there in 1968, which is the current site of the high school today. The current site is on Chaparral Drive in SW Roanoke County. The old high school building then became Cave Spring Junior High School. From the day it first opened, the high school held grades 10, 11 and 12 until 2002 when the 9th grade was moved to the high school and Ca
ve Spring Junior High School became present day Cave Spring Middle School, which houses grades 6, 7 and 8. Also during 2002, Hidden Valley High School was first opened and half of the Cave Spring High School population was fed into Hidden Valley due to overcrowding at Cave Spring. Starting in 2006, renovations were being done to multiple sports buildings and complexes on and off of the high school campus. The project was called "Project 50", in honor of the school's 50th anniversary. In the fall of 2008, the main entrance and front lobby of the high school was completely renovated and re-opened in the spring of 2009. Cave Spring High School is one of the two high schools that serve SW Roanoke County and one of the five high schools that serve the Roanoke County school district as a whole. The mascot and nickname of the high school is the Knights. The official school colors are scarlet, black and white. Save the date!
Cave Spring High School invites parents, alumni and the general public to attend a ribbon cutting and open house event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Those attending will have the opportunity to tour the recently rebuilt and expanded high school.
“We’re’ excited to allow the public to come in and see the newly renovated Cave Spring High School,” said Mike Wray, Cave Spring member of the Roanoke County School Board and CSHS alumnus.
Originally intended to take place shortly after the project was completed in Fall 2020, a public celebration had to be postponed due to COVID-19 regulations at the time, which significantly restricted the number of attendees for indoor events.
Class of 2000, It’s finally time!
At 11:00 AM on the same day as the open house, students and staff are invited to unwrap history found in the time capsule enclosed outside the auditorium 21 years ago. Spread the word to other alumni and come out to reminisce about days past.

How cool is this?! The NFL has presented Cave Spring High School with these three gold commemorative footballs in honor of Super Bowl 50, one each to represent Cave Spring alumni Tiki Barber, Ronde Barber and Danny Aiken. Together, the three of them have played in a total of four Super Bowl games. We are honored to be recognized as their alma mater and we are even prouder to call them Knights!
