Students had an awe inspiring day at the Bradley Free Clinic. They rotated through triage , medical, pharmacy, lab, dentistry, and behavioral/mental health gaing tremendous appreciations for the services provided at the facility.

The students spent a second day at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital engaged in clinical shadowing on various units, meeting with the Chair of Anesthesia, a Hospitalist, and took a tour of the new Level 1 Trauma Center ER.

The students received a tremendous amount of hands on experience today with the Radford University PA Program at Radford University Carilion and the Radford University department of Physical Therapy. Topics included ultrasound, stroke, and human anatomy.

Well the days fun activities ended before it really began. A storm came by and shut down the Tree Top Adventures. We did manage to get a quick picture.

Students had a busy day starting at the Carilion Clinic Commmand Center (CTAC). Thank you to Sr. Vice President Paul Davenport for hosting the visit. Students learned how this world class center manges patient and room logistics (not many pics due to the sensitive information). The second half of the day was working with the Carilion Wilderness Medicine Physicians.

Students spent the day at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute learning about research on Covid, cancer, and hepatitis C. Students also spent time doing Q & A with a panel of graduate research students.

Students spent the day with staff from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Cardiovascular Institute. They learned about Human Factors, ECHMO, and clinical research. The day was capstoned with students doing shadowing staff throughout the CVI units and surgery. Special thanks you to Dr. Nussbaum, Chair of Surgery for coming to talk to the students.

Students spent the day building confidence for engaging patients in the clinical environment. They spent the first half of the day at the Radford University College of Nursing in their simulation center learning how to engage with patients along with learning about IVs and IM injections. The second half of the day was spent at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Students engaged with standardized patients, learned basic suturing and talked with a panel of medical students.
