Day 3 at LTEN 2026 reminded us that excellence is not only about what we accomplish, but also about the energy we bring to ourselves and others.
Welcoming the keynote, LTEN Board Director Amity Cutaia compared great trainers to octopuses. We navigate around obstacles, extend our reach across the organization, and remain flexible, adaptable and curious.
🎤 Keynote speaker Suneel Gupta challenged us to think differently about energy. Energy, he shared, is our capacity to keep moving forward, and our ability to elevate the energy of others is one of the most essential skills in leadership and life. He also shared practical tools to elevate and sustain our energy throughout the day.
Some ideas that resonated deeply:
◉ Rest is not a reward. It is a resource.
◉ We are remembered less for what we do and more for the energy imprints we leave behind.
◉ The happiest and healthiest people offer help — and ask for it too.
◉ Take action. Courage will catch up along the way.
One of the most moving moments came when attendees anonymously shared what they were struggling with and found support and understanding from others in the room — a powerful reminder that none of us walks alone.
And then, CMR Institute’s Wanda Wright brought the room to life with Don’t Stop Believin’. Voices joined in, flashlights switched on, hands went up, and the energy in the room soared.
Because long after the sessions end, what remains are the energy imprints we leave behind.

The opening remarks and keynote set an inspiring tone for Day 2 at LTEN 2026, offering fresh perspectives on excellence, hidden value and the importance of thinking like problem-solvers.
Drawing from her experience as a learning leader, yoga practitioner and coach, LTEN Board President and Executive Director Laura Last shared her thoughts on what it means to elevate excellence. She reminded us that excellence is never built through a single skill. It is developed through a whole-person approach — mind, body, spirit and time. Because the difference between potential and performance comes down to preparation and practice.
Our opening keynote speaker, Dr. Keith Keating, challenged us to think deeper about value. Through his Hidden Value framework and Value Creation Compass, he explored how we create impact by:
◉ Empowering people
◉ Driving business growth
◉ Building organizational resilience
◉ Delivering customer value
He encouraged L&D professionals to become problem-solvers and not view L&D through a single lane. Instead, he challenged us to look at the bigger picture and adopt an entrepreneurial mindset that creates value across the business.
He also emphasized that value doesn’t speak for itself. It must be visible, repeatable and memorable. By telling our stories and building our reputations, we ensure that the value we create continues to have an impact even when we’re not in the room.
We’re excited to continue the conversations and discoveries that make this community so special.
