Join us on Saturday, May 9, for a special two-hour creative Mud with Mom workshop offering both wheel throwing and handbuilding and open to all ages!

The Experience
* The Potter’s Wheel: Spend an hour playing on the wheel as you learn to center and shape your very own bowl, cup, or vase with our knowledgeable instructor.
* Handbuilding: Switch gears for an hour to create a one of a kind handbuilt project.

Details
* Cost: $80 per Adult | $50 per Youth (Ages 8+)
* Youth (ages 8 - 17) will have their own wheel for the pottery wheel segment of the class.
* Ages 7 & Under: Free with a paying adult! Little ones will get to help “collaborate” on Mom’s projects and share the wheel with their adult.
* What’s Included: All clay, professional instruction, two firings (bisque and glaze), and light refreshments.
* Pickup: Your masterpieces will be professionally fired and ready for pickup 4-5 weeks after the event.

Space is limited to ensure plenty of hands-on guidance. There are 2 sessions: 10a-12p and 1p-3p. Grab your tickets and make some mud (and a memory) with Mom that will last a lifetime!

Hi! I’m Emily! I am beyond thrilled to officially introduce myself as the new owner of Common Clay Collective!

I first got involved with Common Clay Collective in 2023 as an instructor and later as the Education Coordinator, working to streamline the classes and curriculum we offer. I have a lengthy background with ceramics, beginning at a similar community pottery studio 18 years ago in Greensboro, NC. Since then I majored in Ceramics, received my MFA in Sculpture, taught college ceramics and sculpture classes, and managed a full community ceramics studio in North Carolina before moving to Roanoke in 2018.

Common Clay is a truly special studio and our members and students have been so kind, helpful, and engaged as I have transitioned into this new role. I’m so excited to grow with the Common Clay Collective community and can’t wait to see what we make next!
