Investing in children. The program began with 17 children and quickly grew to 31 children. Orchard Hills Achievement Center was incorporated in 2013.

In the spring of 2011, the idea of establishing an enrichment program to provide academic support and groceries during the summer for children from underserved families was brought to
the attention of a group of churches in the Roanoke Valley. These churches worked together with community volunteers to create a Tuesday morning summer program where these children experienced
