🗣️🎗️ Survivor Volunteer Spotlight: Jack Jennings

We’re so excited to spotlight Jack Jennings, a 19-year-old childhood cancer survivor, college student, and BeholdBeGold volunteer who will be joining us at Paint for a Purpose: Going Gold this Saturday! 💛🎨

We’re officially just 2 DAYS AWAY, and there’s still time to join us!

🎟️ Reserve your spot here:

Jack is currently studying biology and hopes to pursue a future career working with animals. In his free time, he enjoys Dungeons & Dragons, other games, and finding ways to bring positivity to others.

When we asked Jack what being a childhood cancer survivor means to him, he shared:

“Being a cancer survivor means that I look at the world to find positivity and be a source to make someone smile.” 💛

Over the years, Jack and his mom, Lis, have continued showing up at survivorship events and educational opportunities focused on life after childhood cancer and the late effects of treatment.

We’ve loved seeing Jack stay connected to the survivorship community, and we are especially grateful that he is now choosing to give back as a survivor volunteer at this year’s event.

That is exactly the kind of community BeholdBeGold hopes to continue building, a place where survivors can feel seen, supported, connected, and empowered to give back in their own way. 🎗️

Join us this Saturday during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month as we come together through art to raise awareness, support childhood cancer survivorship, and strengthen our local community. 💛🎨

🗣️🎗️ Speaker Spotlight: Kaya Stone

We’re so excited to introduce one of the meaningful voices you’ll hear at Paint for a Purpose: Going Gold! 🎗️🎨

Kaya Stone will be joining us during our second painting session from 5:00 to 7:00 PM to share her perspective as a childhood cancer survivor and local artist.

Kaya was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 12, and today she is 22 years old and 8 years cancer free. While she is cancer free, she continues to experience late effects from treatment that can impact her day to day life. 💛

For Kaya, survivorship means sharing her story so others facing cancer do not feel alone. She has also shared how meaningful art is to her because it gives her a way to express how she feels, be open about her experience, and create connection with others.

That is exactly why survivor voices matter.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, events like this help our community better understand that survivorship continues long after treatment ends. They also create space to support survivors, raise awareness, strengthen community connections, support a local nonprofit, and support a local small business. 💛

We are so grateful to have Kaya as part of our BeholdBeGold community and cannot wait for you to hear her story.

Join us at Canvas & Coffee Art Café for an afternoon and evening of painting, meaningful stories, live music, face painting, community, connection, and a whole lot of Going Gold! 🎨🎶🎗️

By attending, you are not only enjoying a special community event. You are helping support BeholdBeGold’s work for childhood cancer patients, survivors, and families, while also supporting a local business right here in our community.

Today, we remember Daisy. 💛🌼

We had the honor of meeting Daisy and her family during her journey, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support them and help share her story.

Daisy was diagnosed with DIPG, a fast-growing brain tumor that affects children and develops in the brainstem. The brainstem helps control important functions such as walking, talking, swallowing, movement, and breathing. Because of where DIPG grows, it is very difficult to treat.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we remember Daisy and stand with every family whose child has been diagnosed with DIPG or another form of childhood cancer.

We honor the children still fighting, the children we have lost, and the families who carry their love and memories every day.

Today, we say Daisy’s name. We remember her. We remember them all. Forever gold. 💛

💛 Speaker Spotlight: Lis Jennings

We’re getting SO close to Paint for a Purpose: Going Gold and we cannot wait to welcome our community for this special Childhood Cancer Awareness Month event! 🎗️🎨

During our first painting session from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Lis Jennings will be sharing her perspective as a mom and caregiver to childhood cancer survivor Jack Jennings.

Childhood cancer affects the whole family, and survivorship can bring challenges that continue long after treatment ends. Lis shared that survivorship has meant finding the positives, appreciating the little moments, and enjoying time more than things. She also reminds us how important it is for caregivers to share their experiences so they know they are not alone. 💛

You’ll also get to meet Jack! He has always been eager to get involved with BeholdBeGold, help, meet new people, and give back. Seeing survivors like Jack want to be part of this community is exactly why spaces where survivors feel seen, heard, supported, and included matter so much.

This year we’re partnering with Canvas & Coffee Art Café for an afternoon and evening filled with painting, meaningful stories, live music, face painting, community, connection, and a whole lot of Going Gold! ✨🎶🎗️

Tickets are limited and spots are filling up fast! If you haven’t gotten yours yet, don’t wait. Grab your ticket, bring a friend or family member, and come be part of something meaningful with us! 💛

💛 Why BeholdBeGold Exists: Why Survivorship Matters?

September is , and throughout this month, we want to shine a light not only on childhood cancer, but also on what happens after treatment ends.

Today, about 85% of children diagnosed with cancer are alive at least five years after diagnosis. That is something worth celebrating. But survivorship can also come with long-term and late effects from cancer and its treatment, sometimes appearing months or even years later.

That is why Behold Be Gold exists — to bring more awareness to childhood cancer survivorship, late effects, long-term follow-up care, and the voices of survivors and families.

Finishing treatment is a milestone, but for many survivors, it is not the end of the cancer journey.

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing facts, stories, resources, and ways to support the childhood cancer community. 💛
