Hollins provides one of the most extensive film programs in Virginia. Hollins provides one of the most extensive programs in film studies in Virginia.

Students can take classes in film studies such as classic Hollywood, experimental, and world cinema as well as production, including 16mm film and digital filmmaking. The film major provides a thorough grounding, balancing instruction in the creation of films and videos with courses in the history, aesthetics, and cultural import of these arts.
