Have you ever wondered how electricity gets from its source to your home?

Join the Center for Energy Education for Introduction to the Electric Grid: Understanding How Our Power System Works, an engaging live webinar led by Ted Spencer, C4EE’s Southeast Community Outreach Director.

Participants will learn how electricity is generated, transmitted, and distributed; explore the major parts of the U.S. electric grid; and discuss grid reliability, renewable-energy integration, and opportunities for modernization. The webinar will conclude with an audience Q&A.

The Center for Energy Education invites Granville County residents, landowners, local leaders, and community members to attend the Granville County Solar Public Information Session.

Participants will learn about solar energy in North Carolina, including its potential to support revenue generation and job creation, solar development in Granville and nearby counties, and the safety of solar technology.

The program will also feature a presentation from energyRe on the Barn Perch Solar Community Benefits, followed by a Q&A with speakers.

The final day of the Center for Energy Education’s Out of This World: Artemis II Summer Camp gave our AstroInnovators the opportunity to showcase everything they learned throughout the week.

Campers presented their innovative Shark Tank projects to family members, guests, and fellow participants, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering design skills developed during camp.

C4EE’s team of Shark Tank judges asked plenty of questions about each of our AstroInnovators projects, challenging them to consider feasibility and real-world applications before making a final offer.

Following their presentations, students received their AstroInnovator certificate and celebrated the successful completion of an exciting week of STEM exploration.

NASA Swag Bags were provided by the NASA / North Carolina Space Grant and presented to students. They also received “AstroInnovator Survival Kits’ with space-themed treats to fuel their next adventures.

We are incredibly proud of every student who participated and grateful to our instructors, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who helped make this mission possible.

Thank You, SECU Foundation!

The Center for Energy Education was proud to welcome representatives from the SECU Foundation for a special check presentation recognizing a $40,000 grant award in support of the Center's programming.

SECU Foundation representatives Parker Patterson and Caitlyn Duke presented the check, and additional members of the SECU Foundation team visited the Center to learn more about the programs and initiatives that serve students, educators, and communities across North Carolina.

This investment will help the Center for Energy Education continue providing high-quality STEM education, workforce development opportunities, summer camps, teacher support, and hands-on learning experiences that inspire innovation and lifelong learning.

We are grateful to the SECU Foundation for its commitment to strengthening educational opportunities and expanding access to programs that prepare the next generation of leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers.

🛰️ Day Three of the Center for Energy Education's Out of This World: Artemis II Summer Camp challenged our AstroInnovators to think like NASA engineers!

Campers participated in an Apollo 13-inspired CO₂ Filter STEM Challenge that put their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test. Working in teams as astronauts and NASA Mission Control engineers, students used only walkie-talkies to relay instructions and build prototype CO₂ filters, mirroring the communication challenges faced during the Apollo 13 mission.

Throughout the challenge, campers learned the importance of clear communication, collaboration, and engineering design while working against the clock to complete their mission. Students later presented their completed designs and shared what they learned from the experience.

After the challenge, students visited the C4EE Community Garden, finished up their SLS models, and continued preparing for their final Shark Tank presentations.

The day also included a visit from special guests, giving our AstroInnovators an opportunity to showcase their work and share their excitement for STEM learning.

Another successful mission completed as our campers continued developing the skills that power innovation, exploration, and discovery!
