Reflection is more than “thinking about what you did.” For students in grades 3–5, it helps them become active, independent learners rather than just rule-followers or assignment-doers. At this age, students are moving beyond learning how to read and starting to read to learn, which requires deeper thinking. Reflection gives them the tools to do that.
