We honor the life and legacy of Khalif Rasshan, esteemed social science teacher, Garey HS alumnus - Class of 1969, and tireless advocate for history, culture, and the arts in our community.

Mr. Rasshan’s vision and dedication helped bring the African American Museum of Beginnings to life and his work enriched countless lives and deepened our collective understanding. 

We were honored to recognize him with a Legacy Award for his profound impact on our school and community. Today, we remember his passion, his leadership, and his unwavering belief in the power of culture to unite and uplift.

We are very excited to extend an invitation to you and your family to our CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 2025!...featuring The Garey High School Symphonic Orchestra, The GHS Auxiliary, and Drumline! FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2025 • 8pm

We are pulling out all the stops for this year’s concert and hope that you will join us as we share the sights and sounds of this festive season. Along with ringing in the holidays, we are thrilled to celebrate the spirit of community with the Viking Christmas Village — a school-wide celebration that makes this event a true community tradition. The Village offers an opportunity to support not just the music department, but Garey High School as a whole. Clubs and sports teams will offer holiday treats, festive crafts, and a special opportunity to take a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Additionally, the program will include the recognition of Pomona District 1 Council member, Debra Martin and Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources Silvia San Martin whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact on our school and community. Please take the time to join us for this long-standing tradition of ringing in the holidays here at Garey.
