We are starting a Parent University program this year with Tracy Patton as one of our guest speakers! Some great wisdom here.

When you hear "sensory play," do you immediately picture bins of rice, shaving cream, or finger paint? Those are wonderful... but they're only one small piece of the sensory puzzle. 🖐️ Sensory play isn't just about little hands... it's about the whole child.

Children (and adults!) experience the world through ALL 8 senses:
👀 Sight
👂 Hearing
👃 Smell
👅 Taste
✋ Touch
⚖️ Balance (Vestibular)
💪 Body Awareness (Proprioception)
❤️ Internal Body Signals (Interoception)
That means sensory experiences can look like...
🌿 Taking a nature walk
🎵 Dancing to music
💨 Blowing bubbles
🪵 Climbing logs
🫧 Playing with water
🛝 Swinging at the park
📚 Curling up in a cozy reading nook
🍋 Smelling herbs while cooking
🧱 Building with blocks
🌧️ Listening to the rain

Here's the important part:
✨ EVERYONE (children & adults) benefit from sensory play... but sensory needs are incredibly personal. What feels calming, exciting, or comforting to one person may feel overwhelming or uncomfortable to another.

Some children are sensory seekers. They crave movement, deep pressure, spinning, messy play, loud music, or strong input. Others are sensory averse. They may avoid sticky textures, bright lights, certain sounds, crowded spaces, or unexpected touch.

Neither is "right."
Neither is "wrong."
They're simply different ways of experiencing the world.

When we stop expecting every child to enjoy the same sensory experiences and instead become curious about their unique sensory profile, we can better support learning, regulation, behavior, and connection.

What sets us apart? Preschool at Riverside Presbyterian is an authentic school-day experience, not a daycare, and it mirrors the school district calendars for family time off and an easy kindergarten transition.

A recent space refresh expanded our capacity to 36 students, but we are keeping our cozy, high-quality care with a 5:1 student-to-staff ratio. Our brand-new remodel includes full air conditioning to keep the kiddos comfortable all year round. No more packing lunches! We now provide fully catered snacks and a hot lunch every day.

We know every family has different needs, so we now offer three program options:
Half Day: 8:30 AM – 12:45 PM
Full Day: 8:30 AM – 2:45 PM
Extended Day: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (Before care beginning at 8:00 is also an option.)

We are thrilled to finally share what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. Our preschool has officially been remodeled and expanded, meaning we have more room for children 3-5 to learn, play, and grow! 🎉

Here is a look at what’s new and what we are offering for the upcoming school year:

Yum! All-Inclusive Meals: No more packing lunches! We now provide fully catered snacks and a hot lunch every day. 🍽️
Flexible Schedules to Fit Your Life: We know every family has different needs, so we now offer three program options:
