September is our favorite month of the year! It’s a month to celebrate us!

We love our Deaf culture, honor the contributions and experiences of Deaf people, and raise awareness everywhere.

At CSDR, we’re kicking off the month with a lineup of opportunities to celebrate:

* September 1st: City of Riverside Proclamation of Deaf Awareness Month

* September 15th: Chamber of Commerce host INSIDE Magnolia at CSDR

* September 21st -25th: Deaf Community Culture Week for our cubs

* September 24th: Community Tour Day at CSDR

* September 24th: Family and Community Movie Night at CSDR No Ordinary Hero: SuperDeafy Movie

* September 26th: Homecoming Day

There are even more events and opportunities happening throughout the month! Check out CODIE and Deaf Community of Riverside (DCR) to discover more ways to participate in Riverside.

We kicked off the new school year with an engaging Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) training for our students!

A huge shoutout to Daniel Girard, our Training Coordinator, and his SEL Committee for their hard work and dedication in bringing our new PBIS expectations to life.

Introducing our new CUBS expectations:

C - Care for others
U - Uplift everyone
B - Be responsible
S - Stay safe

We’re creating a positive, supportive environment for our CUBS. By teaching and reinforcing these behaviors, we build a CSDR community where everyone feels Cared for, Uplifted, Responsible, and Safe!

CSDR campus is alive again.

From our youngest Cubbies to our Senior Cubs, every age was back HOME. The best part about being a deaf school, every department is on campus and creating the magic that makes us so special.

That’s one of the greatest gifts of our community: we get to grow together, across generations, all on one campus.

And it reminded us exactly what this year is about:

The Cub Effect starts with you.
What you bring. What you give. How you show up.
Together, those ripples become something bigger.

There’s something special about the beginning of a new school year especially when it kicks off with welcoming new families into the CSDR community during our annual New Family Orientation.

Our newest members of our CSDR family joined us to connect, explore, ask questions, meet the people who will walk alongside them, and begin to feel what it means to truly be home at CSDR.

Because every Cub who walks through our doors creates a Cub Effect:
A new friendship.
A new connection.
A new tradition.
A new opportunity.

And those effect don’t stop with one student. They spread through classrooms, teams, families, friendships, and our entire community.

New families, you are now part of that effect.

Our theme of School Year 2026-2027 emphasizes on how our words, choices, and actions matter.

What starts with one Cub can spread to another… and another… and another. ❤️🐻🩶

This year, we’re challenging our entire Cub family to be change agents for our school and for one another.

Lead with kindness, encourage others, lend a helping hand, and make an impact that reaches far beyond CSDR walls.

Because it’s not in Cub’s nature to just want to make a difference here.

We have every intention to spread the Cub Effect rippling everywhere.

Today, our High School/CTE Department staff gathered with our High School Student Life team, while our Middle School Department staff connected with our Middle School Student Life team. Our counseling department jumped in with their assigned department as well for an opportunity to do a cross-department collaboration!

It was an effective way to reconnect and build relationships with the people we will be working alongside this year. Most importantly, we took time to think about how we can collaborate more intentionally and support our cubs even more strongly.

We’re excited for a new school year and the effects of growing together.

We’re excited to welcome all new and returning CSDR families for the 2026–2027 school year!
