The events and historical particulars were witnessed first-hand by this historian after joining the club in August 1973. Some of the other items in the archive were retrieved by this historian from microfilm at the downtown Riverside Main Library. I also got club history from microfiche upstairs at T.I. when they were on Grand Ave in Santa Ana. Yes, they actually allowed me to access the archives,

but only found minor tidbits such as where we were meeting and how many members we had. Also, I was only able to get historical data from 1948 to 1952. What happened to the 60's and 70's? It is a shame that real important history wasn’t maintained by either the club or T.I. between 1938 and 1973, a span of 35 years. We don’t know who became District Officers, who won major speech contests, who was in the club the longest, how many other clubs we helped charter, how many times the club moved when and where, we don’t have a list of Presidents, etc. It should be noted that T.I. only keeps Charter information and two semiannual reports. If you want some of the other historical information, however trivial, you have to compile it in the club and keep it in the club. doesn’t want it. With almost 10,000 clubs worldwide, you can’t blame them for not loading-up file cabinets at HQ with tons of material that could best be archived at the clubsites.
