On Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9am-12pm, the departments of social work and Health and Exercise Science will be facilitating a poverty simulation developed through the Missouri Community Action Network. This simulation provides people from all backgrounds an opportunity to understand poverty in a hands-on way. This educational tool can help shed light on the discrepancies in our social service systems, and will increase the participants' empathy towards vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Participants will receive an identity and family profile and will experience one month of poverty condensed into the time of the simulation. At the end of the simulation, there will be time for discussion, processing, feedback, and a presentation on existing resources local to Riverside.

Registration for this event is now live at this link:

This immersive experience is free and open to anyone. Participants must register for this event as there are limited spaces.

Share and pass along.
