🎡 STEM P3 (Patterns Puzzles and Practice)🧩

Our stem P3 students put their creativity, collaboration, and problem solving skills to the test as they explored the mathematics behind carnival games. From probability and algebra, to measurement and design, students discovered how math plays a key role in creating games that are both fun and challenging.

Working in teams, they designed and built their own carnival games, testing or finding and improving the designs throughout the week. The academy concluded with students presenting their projects to a panel of Judges where they showcase not only their final designs but also the engineering process, mathematical reasoning, and teamwork behind their creations.

Thank you to all of our step staff volunteers mentors judges and parents and students who participated this week!

We hope to see you again next year.

⚡🌎 What an incredible week at STEM PULL (Public Utilities Learning Lab)!
Our students wrapped up an exciting week of hands-on STEM experiences by exploring the many careers that keep our communities running.

On Wednesday, students toured the Riverside Utilities Center, where Jim King and Jason Rollins introduced them to the Dispatch Room and Meter Shop, providing a behind-the-scenes look at how public utilities serve our community. Back at CBU's Gordon & Jill Bourns College of Engineering, students continued designing and testing their own wind turbines, competing to see which design generated the most energy.

On Thursday, students visited the Riverside Energy Resource Center, where they learned how electricity is generated to power our city. They also participated in a mock City Council meeting, discovering how engineering, public utilities, and community voices work together to shape local decisions.

The week concluded on Friday with our Design Challenge Competition, where student teams presented their engineering solutions to a panel of judges. Congratulations to our three winning teams, who were awarded cash prizes for their outstanding innovation, teamwork, and presentations!

A huge thank you to all of our industry partners, mentors, judges, and volunteers for investing your time and expertise in inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. Your support makes these experiences possible!

What an incredible week at STEM in Defense 2026! 🚁

Here's a look back at an amazing week:

📍 Monday: Students kicked off the week at the California Baptist University School of Aviation, where they worked in teams to build colorful tower prototypes, developing their engineering design, communication, and problem-solving skills.

⚓ Tuesday: Students toured NAVSEA Corona, learning about STEM careers and educational pathways within the U.S. Navy. While photos and videos were not permitted due to security regulations, students gained valuable insight into the innovative work being done to support our nation's defense.

🚁 Wednesday: Students visited the UCR XCITE Lab at the University of California, Riverside Bourns College of Engineering, where they experienced hands-on drone technology. Students learned the fundamentals of drone operation, explored how drones are used in STEM careers, and even created videos of their teams using the drones. It was an exciting day filled with learning, creativity, and fun!

💻 Thursday: Students visited the IE Tech Bridge at Norco College, one of only three educational institutions partnering with NAVSEA to strengthen the Inland Empire's workforce in critical industries. Students learned about opportunities in artificial intelligence, data analytics, data visualization, and advanced manufacturing while continuing to refine their presentations in preparation for Friday's Design Challenge.

🏆 Friday: The week concluded at the California Baptist University Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering, where student teams presented their innovative design projects to a panel of judges. After showcasing a week of hard work, creativity, and collaboration, three winning teams were recognized, and every participant received a certificate celebrating their accomplishments.
From aviation and drone technology to defense careers, and engineering design, our students embraced every challenge with curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

Thank you to all of our incredible partners and collaborators for investing in the next generation of STEM innovators and leaders. We couldn't do it without you!
