A tiny assistant helped out for a few hours today. We love our little community. Happy Friday!

Our students worked so hard today: farm chores, note taking, nap making, dialogue, synthesizing, and writing. Today was a day of so many connections and questions, some of which we have yet to answer. Thank you for an incredible day and a huge thank you to for the amazing space you built! It felt so great to write on this awesome chalk board!

Our Monday was a whirlwind! Here’s some of our students presenting their work last week. The end of the week is a time for synthesis and teaching one another. Montessori middle school has students of all grades and levels collaborating during group work.

Broken bench. No problem. We can fix that!
Middle School students participate in carpentry classes every week, where they become well versed in working with tools. These skills are applied on site, as we fix and maintain our campus together! 🔨🪚🪛

Remember a gorgeous day on this chilly morning. The day before breaks, Bauhaus students cook a meal for the entire community (along with our friends!). We love to catch up, hear about holiday plans, and see our students plan a big meal from prep all the way through clean up. Our school is not a place to drop in and out; it’s a place for the whole family.

We’re deep into several books and podcasts right now that are blowing our minds! The podcast featured Teacher Tom recently, who talked about what it means for children to be at the center of our lives and society. We are so grateful to spend our days teaching and learning with our students and son in community together. Let’s all figure out our why in 2022 and chase THAT. ❤️, Ms. Rachel

Our campus at is such a blessing to us! Students are able to make themselves lunch in the kitchen, or whip us brownies for the class when they’d like.

Last week our students studied the fundamental needs of humans, a classic Montessori lesson at all levels. They dove into Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and did beautiful extension projects and discussions. This room in our school is an example of how we meet the needs of adults and adolescents alike: we believe schools should be comfortable, beautiful, homelike spaces. We are grateful for the two students who designed this space so beautifully!

Montessori education for teens is about learning in real contexts in community with your peers and teachers. This winter we went to Nature's Classroom Institute for a powerful week of learning about science and ecology. The biggest take transformations occurred within student relationships. Covid has been so hard on teens, but spending time outdoors every day has been a welcomed and inspired shift in our programming.
