Student Spotlight: Kenneth Smith
As a licensed architect and a student of photography and graphic design, I strongly believe photography and graphic design have a correlation to architecture. They share many of the same attributes such as composition, light, form, shape and perspective. My pursuit of photography and graphic design is an extension of my experience in architecture. In this pursuit, many of the conversations and creative processes are like those I encountered during my studies at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) for my professional Bachelor of Architectural degree.
I enjoyed photography and graphic design class experiences, capturing candid photos of people experiencing the built environment. My photographic style continues to develop as I continue to explore these new areas. As an architect, obviously it is slanted toward architecture.
This is true for graphic design. Incorporating building details into photographic and graphic design
compositions is fulfilling. I consider myself a detailed oriented person. Photographing subjects with a focus on detail is very rewarding. When reviewing my work, it’s my hope that my penchant for detail emanating from my architectural background will be appreciated.
Congratulations, Kenneth!
