Student Spotlight: Kenneth Smith

As a licensed architect and a student of photography and graphic design, I strongly believe photography and graphic design have a correlation to architecture. They share many of the same attributes such as composition, light, form, shape and perspective. My pursuit of photography and graphic design is an extension of my experience in architecture. In this pursuit, many of the conversations and creative processes are like those I encountered during my studies at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) for my professional Bachelor of Architectural degree.
I enjoyed photography and graphic design class experiences, capturing candid photos of people experiencing the built environment. My photographic style continues to develop as I continue to explore these new areas. As an architect, obviously it is slanted toward architecture.
This is true for graphic design. Incorporating building details into photographic and graphic design
compositions is fulfilling. I consider myself a detailed oriented person. Photographing subjects with a focus on detail is very rewarding. When reviewing my work, it’s my hope that my penchant for detail emanating from my architectural background will be appreciated.

Congratulations, Kenneth!

Student Spotlight: Wafaa Alize

After lots of thoughts, I finally chose graphic design as my career choice. I’ve learned a lot
and continue to do so. It wasn’t easy, I’ve struggled with projects I wasn’t interested in, but that’s just part of being an artist. To become the designer I want to be, I still have a lot to learn and much more practice on my art skills.

Congratulations, Wafaa!

About Me – Yanni Karabatsos
I’m an artist who dabbles in Graphic Design, Video Editing, and Physical Art like Sketching and creating DIY Toys. Additionally, I’m a fast learner who works efficiently with great teamwork and effective communication. I really enjoy providing customers with a good service as well as having skills of flexibility, critical thinking, and especially being detail oriented during work. I can focus on many things, making sure they’re just right. One last point I’d be remised to leave out is the critical skill of asking effective questions, after all the smartest people on earth are ones who ask questions. Knowing about as much as possible is a very important quality to have in your line.

Congratulations, Yanni!

Student Spotlight: Xitlali Chavez Rios

This year I graduate with my certificate in graphic design. In the time I’ve been in school, I’ve come across many challenges and obstacles that have made the journey difficult. Thanks to the support of family and friends, I’ve accomplished this goal and am yet to reach more. I’ve enjoyed working through various projects over these years at Triton, and I am looking forward to continuing my education in the future. I am proud to be the second one in my family to graduate from college, and as a proud Latina, I am excited to see where my new skills take me.

Congratulations, Lali!

Student Spotlight: Sviatoslav Povidash

My name is Sviatoslav and I’m a Graphic Design Certificate graduate of 2026. I really like vector graphics and it was very interesting to learn about Illustrator, as well as other Adobe Apps and how to use them in the same project. I really appreciate studying in Triton, meeting new people and learning new skills and how to use them in my personal projects.

Student Spotlight: Ethan Frazier

My name is Ethan Frazier. I am a graphic designer who integrates photography as an extension of my design practice, applying design principles to both disciplines. Working in both graphic design and photography require distinct yet complementary approaches, which together enhance my creative process. In my design work, I strive to convey themes through the repetition of elements, as well as the strategic use of color and shape to evoke emotion and create dynamic layouts. Photography allows me to translate these design concepts into three-dimensional space, enabling me to capture moments that communicate my vision and inform my design projects. This synergy between graphic design and photography enables me to efficiently replicate styles, develop original ideas, and approach my work with creativity. Through compositing techniques and capturing intimate moments, I continually seek new perspectives and challenge myself to expand my creative boundaries.

Student Spotlight: Simon Parkhomenko

Wrapped up my Graphic Design classes with straight A’s. Every project pushed me, every challenge taught me something new. Achieving goals isn’t luck — it’s hard work, consistency, and showing up even when it’s tough. Proud of the growth.
