Overview
MUST BE LICENSED IN ILLINOIS Emerald Cove Counseling provides virtual individual, couples and family therapy sessions designed to be flexible and responsive to client schedules, offering compassionate mental health support. The practice is woman-owned, led by a psychotherapist with 20 years of experience. We are seeking a Psychotherapist (Bilingual/Spanish-Speaking preferred) to join our dynamic mental health team. In this role, you will provide evidence-based psychotherapy services to diverse populations. Your expertise will help clients navigate emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their mental health goals. Role Description The Psychotherapist will provide comprehensive, counseling services to a diverse adult and adolescent client population in IL. This full-time, virtual role includes conducting intake assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering ongoing psychotherapy using appropriate therapeutic modalities. Daily responsibilities involve maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, coordinating care with other providers when necessary, and adhering to professional and legal standards of practice. The Psychotherapist will also engage in case consultation, participate in practice meetings, and contribute to a supportive, client-centered environment that promotes growth and recovery.
Duties
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and clinical evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately diagnose and document patient conditions.
• Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and behavioral therapy tailored to individual client needs.
• Deliver individual, group, family, and child/youth counseling sessions using evidence-based practices to promote mental wellness and behavioral change.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies and manage emergency situations effectively while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines.
• Maintain meticulous clinical documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR), ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards and confidentiality protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Engage in ongoing research and professional development activities to stay current with advances in mental health treatments, ICD coding updates, and telehealth therapy practices.
Qualifications
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid licensure or certification as a licensed professional counselor (LPC), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), psychologist or equivalent according to state requirements.
• Proven experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), co-occurring disorders, PTSD care, addiction counseling, geriatrics, or special education settings.
• Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, grief counseling, behavior management, and crisis management.
• Experience working with diverse populations through inpatient/outpatient settings or telehealth platforms; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is preferred.
• Ability to perform mental health assessments using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9/ICD-10 standards; proficient in medical terminology and clinical documentation standards.
• Excellent communication skills for client engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration; capacity for research and data collection to support evidence-based practice.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; understanding of clinical ethical guidelines related to mental health care.
