Becoming Witness is an art exhibit by Professor Matt Dooley. Matt Dooley is an artist, professor, and yoga teacher living in River Falls, Wisconsin. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska and currently works as a professor of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. See this exciting exhibit at The Art & Water Space in Stillwater, MN. through October 3rd.

Department of Psychological Sciences welcomes Assistant Professor Dr. Erin Foy to the team! Erin earned her PhD in Social Psychology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 2026. While completing her graduate education, Erin was recognized for outstanding service to her department and her pedagogical development, which included serving as the lead developer of a novel Social Psychology Lab course for undergraduates. This fall, she is teaching General Psychology and Abnormal Psychology at UWRF. Erin is delighted to join the Falcon family and teach on the campus where her grandparents, both lifelong educators themselves, met back in the 1940s! UWRF Psychological Sciences

Sociology, Criminology and Anthropology department welcomes Dr. Brieanna Watters as a new assistant professor. Brieanna earned her PhD in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, where her research focused on rural and tribal policing, tribal sovereignty, and monetary sanctions in the criminal legal system. She held an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Idaho, studying climate-smart land management in partnership with tribal communities, and has taught criminology at Hamline University. At UWRF, she’ll be teaching courses in criminology. Brieanna is excited to join the UWRF community and continue her work in rural and tribal policing, tribal sovereignty, and criminal justice reform. Today's internship spotlight is on senior computer science major Griffin Keeler. Griffin was part of the NSF-funded Computational Methods for Understanding Music, Media, and Minds Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. "My research focused on using machine-learning methods to investigate what information about music can be recovered from brain activity recorded with electroencephalography (EEG). I worked with neural and audio data, developed and evaluated computational models, and helped analyze how accurately the models could associate patterns of brain activity with corresponding segments of music. At the end of the program, I presented our work at the University of Rochester’s summer research symposium." "My coursework and research experiences at UWRF helped prepare me substantially for the internship. Courses in computer science and discrete mathematics gave me the programming and quantitative foundation needed to work with machine-learning models and large datasets, while my previous experience conducting EEG research at UWRF helped me become comfortable working with neural signals and thinking about neuroscience research questions. Together, those experiences allowed me to contribute to the project while continuing to develop my interests in neural engineering and brain-computer interfaces." Griffin plans to pursue a PhD in biomedical engineering or electrical and computer engineering after he graduates in the spring. His goal is to work in a lab that research brain-computer interfaces to restore speech and motor movement to those suffering from ALS.

English department welcomes Assistant Professor Rebecca Easler to the team! Rebecca earned her bachelor's degree in English and History at Concordia College, a master's degree in literature and society at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and her PHD in English literature from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She will be teaching British and Global literatures courses here at . "Having been an adjunct lecturer last year, I am thrilled to continue working with UWRF in my new position. I am especially excited to be more involved with the English department and wider UWRF community, and to get to know my students and help them grow into lifelong learners."
