UWRF Beef Management Team The UWRF Beef Management Team is a professional group focusing on building tomorrow's beef industry leaders.

We strive to provide our members with hands-on experience as well as career building opportunities such as assisting with the St. Croix Valley Bull Test, networking with industry leaders, and the management of the UWRF beef cattle herd. We work alongside the Mann Valley Farm managers the team to implement our genetic plan, make mating decisions, select which animals to sell, and other management driven experiences. As a whole we decided to focus the herd more towards a seedstock type operation, currently working towards a herd consisting of 30 purebred Angus females and 30 purebred Hereford females.

🍁2026 Fall Production Tour Recap, Day 3🍁

📍For our final day on tour, we started out at Arndt land and cattle. Here, we got a great in depth tour of their Angus Feedlot, Cow calf and Crop operations. We learned how they best manage their cattle and crops to get the most out of them. We also learned the importance of raising excellent crops to benefit the nutritional needs of cattle in order to keep them growing well. A highlight of this stop was taking a wagon ride around their properties to see the different crops they raise such as corn, soybeans, mint, etc. Along with this we enjoyed seeing the new calving barn in the works.

📍Next, we traveled to Blueprint Genetics. We learned about how they manage their Genetics Business and got a tour of their facility. We learned the importance of healthy cattle so that they produce healthy O- Sites. Focusing on reproductive health in cattle can help produce healthy embryos and help Blueprint have the most success in producing high quality cattle for their customers. We also learned the ins and outs of how Blueprint houses and maintains donor females and recips to have good conception rates.

📍Lastly, we headed right down the road to visit Henning Farms Show Cattle. We got to see their show barn and working areas, as well as see and evaluate some of their Angus sale heifers. We enjoyed walking through their pastures to see what they had to offer.

🍁2026 Fall Production Tour Recap, Day 2 🍁

📍We first started off our day at The Meat Shoppe in Lancaster. We got a tour of the shop and cutting facility. After learning some neat history of the store and the owners background in this business, we had delicious pizza that they prepared for us. A highlight to this stop that we enjoyed was they use their own cattle sourced from their farm to sell! A recommended stop if you are by Lancaster!
📍Next we stopped at Spring Creeks Cattle Company. Here, we learned about their Limousin, Angus and Limousin flex cow calf operations. We learned the value that each breed can bring to Limosene flex cattle to make the best product. We greatly enjoyed the tour of their setup and seeing bull calves they will have on upcoming sales.
📍Lastly, we ended off our night with a great team dinner and some fun Bowling after!

🍁2026 Fall Production Tour Recap, Day 1🍁

For this years tour, we moved down through Wisconsin to see different types of cattle operations and how they are ran. Team members gained valuable knowledge on different topics all the way from butchering, retail, cow calf, nutrition, genetics and more.

Day 1
📍First, we started off our trip with a stop in Madison at the UW- Madison Meat lab where we got a great tour of the different parts of the lab and what is done in each section, from live animals to processing and retail.

📍Next we stopped at Marda Angus Farms where we learned about all that goes into their operation to make it successful with some great advice along the way.
Lastly we stopped for a Team dinner and had some great bonding to end our night. Stay tuned for days 2 and 3 of our tour.

Huge thank you to Bernie at UW Madison for our awesome tour where we learned lots and the Quam Family for answering all of our questions.

As this year comes to an end, we are excited to welcome a new PR Chair who will be taking over our social media, along with a new officer team ready to lead BMT into another successful year! 🤍

We are so thankful for the memories, growth, and accomplishments this team has shared, and we can’t wait to see where the next group of leaders takes us. Their passion, ideas, and dedication will continue to help this team grow stronger and better than ever.

What an incredible night celebrating our BMT Banquet!

This year was filled with hard work, laughs, growth, friendships, and so many unforgettable memories. We are so proud of everything this team accomplished together, and none of it would have been possible without every member who showed up, worked hard, and made this year so special.

Thank you for the memories, the support, and all the moments that made this team feel like family. From the early weigh ins to trips and late nights, this year is one we will always remember.

We are already looking forward to next year and all the new opportunities, memories, and successes ahead with this amazing group of people. Here’s to another great year of BMT!
