River Falls Project Search

River Falls Project SEARCH is an internship program for people with disabilities, ages 18-30. The Project SEARCH application process takes place each winter.

Project SEARCH was first developed in 1996 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to provide employment and education opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities. ridge, River Falls School District, Ellsworth School District, TMG and ContinuUs. High School Transition Program
The High School Transition Program is a one-year education program for students with disabilities. Participants have met all academic requirements for graduation and spend a school year reporting to the Project SEARCH host business where they learn the skills needed to obtain competitive community employment at the conclusion of the program. The high school transition program combines classroom time with a school year-long unpaid internship at River Falls Area Hospital. This combination of instruction and immersion in the workplace setting thoroughly prepares enrollees to meet employer expectations. In addition to classroom learning covering employability and independent living skills, each student will spend four hours per day working in an internship. Project SEARCH students gain experience working in a variety
of settings. Classroom curriculum
Throughout the school year, interns participate in a functional academic curriculum that stresses employability and independent living skills. Major classroom focus areas include:
· Working responsibly
· Communicating effectively
· Solving problems and developing critical thinking skills
· Planning and managing a career
· Developing self-advocacy skills. OUR MISSION
Project SEARCH is dedicated to providing education and training to young adults with significant disabilities through an innovative workforce and career development model that benefits the individual, workplace and community. Our primary goal is to secure competitive employment outcomes for each of our student graduates.

Today was our last full day of Project SEARCH!! So we headed to the park, we all enjoyed spending time with Herman(Emily’s dog)! Had a pizza party, celebrated summer birthdays, cleaned the classroom and presented the girls with some special awards!! Tomorrow graduation!!

Today we had an amazing time at Elsie’s Barnyard!! We met some adorable animals and got lots of snuggles too! Had a quick stop for lunch and then off to see The Sheep Detectives!!

Hallie has showed such determination this year in each rotation! We loved watching her thrive in the cafeteria serving lunches, washing dishes and even running the register! Way to go Hallie!!

Katelyn has worked so hard in her rotations and we are so proud of her! Today she took it upon herself to label her cart with the scrub sizes so she can be more organized when delivering them!! Way to go Katelyn!! 😊

Today was a day our interns won’t forget! We joined other Project SEARCH programs from Eau Claire, Menomonie, Rice Lake, and La Crosse for a fun-filled day at Action City at Metropolis Resort.

We started off with a tour of the resort, getting a behind-the-scenes look before jumping into a pizza buffet lunch (definitely a highlight 😊). After that, it was time to enjoy all the fun and energy that Action City has to offer!

Even better than the games and activities was the chance to connect, laugh, and build friendships with interns from other sites. Experiences like this are such a great reminder that Project SEARCH is bigger than just one location—it’s a whole community.

So proud of our interns for representing our site so well and making the most of every moment!
