Ripon College prepares students of diverse interests for lives of productive, socially responsible citizenship. Our liberal arts curriculum and residential campus create an intimate learning community in which students experience a richly personalized education. Ripon College is a private undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college located in the historic town of Ripon, Wisconsin. Founded in 1851, it has a long tradition of excellence in facilitating learning within its beautiful century-old buildings. The intentionally small residential campus enrolls some 1,000 young men and women from nearly every state and from countries around the world. All courses are taught by faculty members, 97 percent of whom have a Ph.D. Students benefit from intimate class sizes which average a faculty-to-student ratio of 14:1. 95 percent of students indicate they are satisfied or very satisfied with the amount of attention they receive from faculty, who also provide direct academic, career and club advising, and collaborate on serious research pursuits. Ninety-six percent of graduates are employed or in professional school six months after graduation, and the acceptance rate to medical school is 80 percent – twice the national average.

Do you know the words to the Ripon Fight Song? Familiarize yourself with the lyrics, composed by Brianne Milroy ’15, and the melody revised by Steven Lanphier ’17, Angela Pamperin ’17 and members of the Ripon College Pep Band. Today, the Rally Band, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Toby Shucha, performs the Fight Song at Red Hawks athletic events.

Isabella Hsu joined the faculty this fall as poet in residence. The position is sponsored by Wisconsin's Own Library and the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Wisconsin. In addition to teaching poetry courses, the poet-in-residence program allows Hsu time to work on her own writing. Her poems and essays have appeared in New Verse Review, The San Diego Reader and The St. Austin Review, among others. Her poem "The Young Man at Nain" was included in The Colosseum Book of Contemporary Narrative Verse.

It's Sunday, and many Americans will be watching NFL football today. Did you know that there have been several Ripon College alumni who have played for the Green Bay Packers. Charlie Mathys ’22 was a quarterback and kicker, B**b Darling ’26 played center, Tiny Croft ’42 was an offensive tackle and Dave Smith ’59 was drafted by Vince Lombardi and later played for the Houston Oilers. Additionally, Dick Rehbein ’77 participated in the Packers' training camp after graduating. He didn't make the team, but had a successful career as a coach in the NFL with teams such as the Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and New England Patriots.

We're celebrating 175 years with a bang. A spectacular fireworks display will light up Family Weekend and Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 p.m. Gates open at 8 p.m. at Hopp Stadium, so grab your crew and claim a spot right on the turf of Merriman Field for a unique vantage point of this sky-high celebration.
