Our liberal arts curriculum and residential campus create an intimate learning community in which students experience a richly personalized education. Ripon College is a private undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college located in the historic town of Ripon, Wisconsin. Founded in 1

851, it has a long tradition of excellence in facilitating learning within its beautiful century-old buildings. The intentionally small residential campus enrolls some 1,000 young men and women from nearly every state and from countries around the world. All courses are taught by faculty members, 97 percent of whom have a Ph.D. Students benefit from intimate class sizes which average a faculty-to-student ratio of 14:1. 95 percent of students indicate they are satisfied or very satisfied with the amount of attention they receive from faculty, who also provide direct academic, career and club advising, and collaborate on serious research pursuits. Ninety-six percent of graduates are employed or in professional school six months after graduation, and the acceptance rate to medical school is 80 percent – twice the national average.

Exciting news from Ripon College. We’ve once again been recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the best colleges in the nation in the 2027 edition of "The 392 Best Colleges."

Following the retirement of Mary Hatlen, Julie Hau has joined the staff as the new director of the Center for Career and Professional Development. Julie has served students in different roles including career counselor, academic advisor, therapist, advising dean, researcher and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of California-Santa Barbara, University of Illinois-Chicago, University of North Dakota and California State University Northridge.

She completed her undergraduate work in English and psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She has both a masters in counseling with a focus in college student development and higher education and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research has shown that female athletes are two to eight times more likely to suffer an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear compared to male athletes in comparable high-impact sports. There are a variety of theories to explain the difference, most noting anatomy, biomechanics and hormones.

Studies show that female athletes tend to rely heavily on their quadriceps rather than their hamstrings during jumping, cutting and deceleration. Could this lower or delayed hamstring muscle activation play a role in ACL injury?

That is the question Karissa Jenz ’28 and Dario Vasquez ’28 contemplated this summer. Specifically, the pair have been studying the effects of whole body vibration versus plyometric warmup on female athlete performance. They want to determine if the whole body vibration increases hamstring activity more than a plyometric warmup in females.

The hope is to find a safer warm-up routine for female athletes with the goal of lowering the chance of ACL injury.
