We are so proud of Kristen and all she has accomplished! Her journey is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when community partners come together to support our students. We are thankful for our partnership with Jobs & Hope West Virginia and for everyone working together to help students build brighter futures! 💙🎓

🎉 A STORY OF HOPE: KRISTEN WINNELL 🎉

Sometimes, reaching a career goal starts with taking one important step forward. For Kristen Winnell of Jackson County, that step was earning her GED—and she didn’t stop there.

Kristen enrolled in Jobs & Hope WV on April 14, 2025, and has spent the past 16 months working toward her education and career goals. Along the way, she overcame an important barrier by earning her GED through Jackson County Adult Education on August 20, 2026! 🎓

Through her partnership with Jackson County Adult Education, Kristen participated in both in-person instruction and distance learning through Aztec, giving her the flexibility and support she needed to reach this milestone.

But earning her GED was just one part of Kristen’s journey.

She also completed Peer Leadership Training through the McShinn Foundation, along with ethics training and PRSS ethics training through the WVCBAPP Peer Resource Network.

Kristen has also gained valuable hands-on experience as a Transportation Assistant with Hope House Ministries in Ravenswood, where she completed the 500 hours required in preparation for state testing.

🌟 What’s next?

Kristen is continuing to work with Jobs & Hope WV as she prepares for state testing and works toward her goal of a career in the peer recovery field.

Her story is a great example of what can happen when determination, education, and strong community partnerships come together.

We had a great CPR class last night at the Jackson County Adult Learning Center! Our students gained valuable hands-on experience and learned skills that can make a difference when every second counts. ❤️

We’re proud of everyone who participated and took another step toward being prepared in an emergency! 👏
