Here's a good brief on the recent news. Suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs may no longer be considered NFA items soon (if you are a member of the plantiff groups). More to come I'm sure.
Texas Federal Court: Part of the NFA Is “Gone” for Some
Details 👇
A federal judge in Texas ruled that certain NFA registration and approval requirements for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns exceed Congress’s authority now that the related federal taxes have been reduced to $0.
The ruling is a major win for plaintiffs including Gun Owners of America, the NRA, the Second Amendment Foundation, the Fi****ms Policy Coalition, the American Suppressor Association, Silencer Shop Foundation, SilencerCo, and Palmetto State Armory.
If you are a member of one of these plaintiff groups, the ruling may apply to you under the court’s order. However, the exact coverage depends on the group and the wording of the injunction, so members should wait for official guidance before taking action.
The decision does not eliminate the NFA nationwide, and the government could still appeal or seek to pause the ruling.
We will keep you updated.
