Most people think martial arts skill comes from talent or natural ability.
It doesnât.
Real skill is built during the thousands of repetitions when no one is watchingâŠ
when you're drilling the same movement again and againâŠ
when you're tiredâŠ
when progress feels slow.
Thatâs where confidence is forged.
Thatâs where real ability is built.
âSkill in martial arts isnât built in moments of inspirationâitâs built in thousands of repetitions when no one is watching.â

One of the founders of our Shorei Goju lineage.
ChĆjun Miyagi (1888â1953) was a master Okinawan martial artist and the legendary founder of GĆjĆ«-ryĆ« Karate. He is revered for bridging traditional Okinawan fighting arts with Chinese influences.
Key Highlights of His Life and Legacy
Foundation of GĆjĆ«-ryĆ«: In 1930, Miyagi officially named his style GĆjĆ«-ryĆ«, meaning "hard-soft style". The name was inspired by the Bubishi, a classical Chinese martial arts text, specifically the precept: "The way of inhaling and exhaling is hardness and softness".
Training & Influence: He was the top student of Kanryo Higaonna, the master of Naha-te. Miyagi also made several research trips to Fujian Province, China, to study White Crane boxing and other internal arts, which heavily influenced his development of the Tensho kata.
Systematizing Karate: Miyagi was a pioneer in organizing karate for the public. He developed a structured curriculum, including preparatory exercises (Junbi-undo) and the introductory Gekisai katas, to make the art accessible for school physical education and police training.

It is this time of year that we often donât think of the less fortunate. We packed 10 bags of food and gave them out to the homeless in our community. Before we deck our halls let us not forget our the homeless needs for they too need to be cared for too. I have spent my whole life serving others and from my professional training and experience when you give back something bigger than yourself it will make a difference one person a time. It was a very humble experience today to not only give food to the homeless but to know I shared the Christmas spirit to those who often go ignored in our communities. To those that see this message say a prayer for those who are not only homeless but our men and women who canât be with their families both foreign and domestic. Have a great Christmas and safe New Year. Love you all and my God bless.
