"Every year, the American Library Association compiles a list of the books most frequently targeted by censors based on reports from the field and media coverage. The most common justifications for censorship provided by complainants were false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters or themes; and covering topics of race, racism, equity, and social justice."

Reminder: Stop by the library this week to pick up your mystery kit!

Want to solve a mystery? Davis Library will be providing take-home mystery kits in honor of Banned Books Week. Use your detective skills to solve puzzles and uncover the Banned Book Silencer’s true identity. Once you’ve solved the case, bring your final accusation to the library for a prize! Pick up a mystery kit and check out the banned book display at the library anytime from October 5–9.
