Gair Cymraeg yr Wythnos | Welsh Word of the Week

Sgwrsio

The Welsh word "sgwrsio" translates to "to chat," "to converse," or "to talk" in English. As a verb noun, it comes from the root noun sgwrs (a conversation), which shares a distant linguistic link to the English word discourse.

One of the best ways to improve your Welsh is through sgwrsio. Whether you're a beginner or a fluent speaker, regular conversation helps build confidence and connects you with other Welsh speakers.

Our weekly "Sgwrsio" sessions restart 9 September 9th. Join us online to practise your Welsh, meet fellow learners from across North America, and enjoy a friendly and supportive environment.

We're delighted to be here in Springfield, Massachusetts, for NAFOW 2026! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇸🇨🇦

This morning, Dan led a series of engaging Welsh language sessions, helping learners strengthen their skills and confidence in using Cymraeg.

This afternoon, Gruffydd joined Rob from the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Centre, Wymore, Nebraska, along with Dave and Fred from the St. David's Society of Pittsburgh, to present a workshop on "Preserving Welsh Heritage in North America." The session included Gruff’s presentation on the Welsh-American Heritage Museum renovation project, highlighting efforts to preserve and share Welsh history for future generations.

It's been a fantastic few days of learning, collaboration, and celebrating Welsh culture. If you're attending NAFOW this weekend, be sure to stop by and say hello! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😄
