Celebration Day and marks the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

The Higher Education Act (HEA), which emerged from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty, is a law that strengthens the education resources of colleges and universities around the country and provides financial assistance for post-secondary students.
