History of the Center:
The UTRGV Starr County Campus continues to serve the region by providing accessible, high-quality higher education opportunities close to home. Located in Rio Grande City, the campus features modern classrooms, technology-enhanced learning spaces, student support services, and collaborative areas designed to foster academic success. With flexible course offerings, dedicated faculty, and strong partnerships with local schools and organizations, the Starr County Campus remains committed to preparing future professionals and leaders while supporting the educational and economic growth of the community. Courses offered are mostly those required for a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with specialization in bilingual education. The majority of the students enrolled in the EC-6 bilingual generalist curriculum consist of teacher aides with local school districts who qualify through the Teacher Aide Exemption Program. The schedule ranges from 5:00 - 10:25 PM to accommodate the needs of working students. Faculty is comprised of both university professors and local public school educators and administrators.

Our students in EDCI 3333, taught by Dr. Richard Irizarry, wrapped up the semester with their Science Student Project Presentations! 🔬🧪🍎

As part of the course, students demonstrated science experiments through creative and interactive presentations designed to prepare them for their future classrooms as educators. From hands-on activities to engaging demonstrations, the classroom was filled with excitement, learning, and lots of fun!

These presentations not only showcase our students’ knowledge and creativity, but also help build the confidence and skills they’ll use as future teachers inspiring the next generation. We are so proud of all their hard work this semester! 👩🏻‍🏫
