For our last DS program week, we celebrated Pijama Day together, wearing our favorite PJs but with a Spanish twist! We spent the whole day singing our favorite Spanish songs, creating a fairy piñata in the woods, designing our own maracas for our fiesta dance party, and then movement games in our favorite language of course!

The week became wackier, more explorative, summery, and then glowtastic; and the only thing that topped these teacher designed activities were the hugs and snuggles from all our incredible students. ❤️

So last Friday was our last official DS day, and we are just missing our students so much this morning! Cue the tears! Because even though we will see most of our students during summer camp, it’s just not the same.🩶

So today, we share our summer affirmations from our DS students and wishing you all a beautiful and joyful summer full of love and core memories! And excitement for all our incoming, new summer families! 🌈

Practicing our balance, core strength, and confidence in forward position over our pole obstacle course! Just so incredibly proud of the growth our students have made in and out of the saddle! Truly, they inspire us each day and will miss seeing them all every day, although almost everyone is coming back for summer camp, so yay! Yay! And Yay!

Rocking our PJs, our DS students (and siblings) were invited to spend a “Night at the Barn,” wishing good night to all our farm critters, dancing to bubbles and disco music, free play at the playground and play village, enjoying pizza and a make your own sorbet dessert party, and then relaxing with a short SEL clip to end the night before parents came after their night out! It was truly an epic night at the farm and a DS exclusive event that we can’t wait to do for next year!

When the weather is too hot to ride, there’s always something to do with our animal friends at like horse painting and bath time! And truly the possibilities are endless and full of rainbows and wonder when your focus is early childhood at .dw and your campus is a farm!

When you get the call the night before that your incredible farm friend and volunteer can bring over their babydoll lambs, the answer is always surely yes to bottle feeding and baby cuddles! Our students were so excited to bottle feed yet again (after our own baby goats), and wow, these sheep were just utterly adorable and sweet! And taught our human friends that even lambs have boundaries to respect and how we could model empathetic stewardship so that not only did we have so much fun, but the lambs felt safe with us! Because truly and is most powerful when taught through a love for animals

So many of our teaching tools are made in house, after much teacher thinktanking and creative dialogue, such as this nature viewfinder! We worked in fluid teams to explore the woods and kissed our brains when we found different parts of the tree! And then of course, we also ran and skipped amongst the trees and even made a wish when the butterfly fairy came to visit and witness our incredible explorer skills! Nurturing the whole child in nature through intentional play, all while growing our brains and bodies together in joy 🌳
