Field Trip #3 has been successfully completed. This week's theme was "How it's Made."
first stop was Beachy's Baking Co. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this donut and pretzel shop on wheels, you are missing out. Nettie was exceptional with our children and patiently answered all their questions. She is a diligent worker who would not shared the "secret" dough recipe with us. Beachy's Baking Co. can be found at the Hewitt Walmart on Tuesdays and at Lowe's on Saturdays.
Our second stop was Bitty & Beau's coffee shop. This quaint shop was delightful, and as the kids noted, smelled delicious. We sampled their hot and iced hot chocolate, Iced Caramel Latte, and Strawberry/Banana Smoothie, all of which were delicious and refreshing. Mark, the owner, greeted us warmly, while Dylan efficiently handled our complex order. Maddy, our barista, answered every question and explained each step of the drink-making process. This establishment is truly a blessing, and the karaoke is sure to bring a smile to your face. You can follow them on Facebook or Instagram. Our third stop was Jesse's Tortilla Factory, where Santos provided an excellent tour of the small, family-owned business. He gave the kids the opportunity to ask questions and observe the tortilla-making process, from fresh corn kernels to the finished corn chips being cut and fried. Notably, Santos informed us that they produce 45,000 tortillas daily.
Our fourth and final stop was Pop Rollos Pizza, where Justin warmly welcomed us and shared the pizza-making experience with the kids. He allowed them to create their own pizzas and ask questions about the cooking process. Justin did an outstanding job engaging the group, and the pizza was delicious. The children had a fantastic time and are eagerly anticipating next week's activities. We extend our sincere gratitude to the establishments that permitted us to observe, learn, and share their stories.
