This week we are crafting lanterns for our Lantern Walk this Thursday.

In the Waldorf tradition, the lantern walk, is a celebration of "Martinmas." St. Martin was known as friend of the children and patron of the poor. St. Martin is know to have cut his cloak in half to share it with a poor beggar on a winter's eve. This holiday originated in France, then spread to the Low Countries, the British Isles, Germany, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe. It celebrates the end of the agrarian year and the end of the harvest.

Pinyon Song celebrates a version of Martinmas as a reminder that each of us has a divine spark and inner light that we must ferry out into the world and share with others. This festival is held after dusk, when our lantern light breaks through the outer darkness of approaching winter.

Please join us for our Lantern Walk and Pumpkin Festival this Thursday at 6pm at Pinyon Song School.

Our kindergarteners had a cold, snowy start to their day! We made the most of it by sledding at Hartwell Park, enjoying some hot chocolate at Cimarron Coffee and soaking up the sunshine and magic at cottonwood park 💫✨❄️. @ Ridgway, Colorado
