We had a beautiful nature walk a few Saturdays ago with our families and incoming wBees! We made nature crowns and bracelets and enjoyed being outdoors together. We treasure moments like these where we can connect with one another in nature!

We had a beautiful time at our annual Spring Picnic! The vibes were mellow and happy and the food was delicious. It’s amazing to think that for many of our students, this is their third and final year with us. We hold so much gratitude and love for our entire wBees community 💕

We had a wonderfully inspiring day of learning last weekend at the AMS Regional Symposium held at Princeton Montessori. The wBees team took workshops ranging from integrating cooking projects into our curriculum, looking inwards as we look at our social emotional learning, moving from sensorial to math materials, and integrating nature in our practice. These moments of connection and learning helps fill our cup and build our practice!

How did our wBees spend their snow day? Why, outside of course! We rode all sorts of sleds 🛷, a snowboard, and played with watercolor! We hung out with friends, family, and even our class pet “Strawberry” had a fun outing in the snow. We are grateful for the warm and bright spirits that sustained us through the storm.

For the past four months, Magic Art Club has been exploring the themes of trees, growth, and their fruits. We observed the natural life in our community during our time outdoors, read books about nature, growth, and friendship during our circle time, and we practiced body movement meditations in which we grow from seeds into tall, reaching trees, helped along by the soil, air, sunlight and rain.
At our art table we have been busy with various materials including plaster, paper mache, cardboard, tempura paint and paint sticks, markers, oil pastels, ribbon, beads, and lots of sticky glue. While practicing different technical skills and celebrating the process of artmaking. Our MAC students worked together to create everything you see in the photos!
As a class, we built our very own tree structure. We collected cardboard from used boxes and toilet paper rolls and then mixed our own paper mache and built upon that foundation until the tree became sturdy enough to stand on its own.
We collaborated on creating a pile of paper leaves and we pondered questions such as, why are we excited to grow up? And, what do we love about trees and being outside? We decorated our leaves with our answers to these questions. We also visualized our ages as the rings of a tree.
In addition, we each made a fruit sculpture using crumpled paper, tape, plaster, paint, glitter, and mod podge. Inspired by the vibrant colors, forms, and tastes of our favorite fruits, we let our imaginations run wild to create our own unique fruits, each unlike any other fruit that has ever existed.

Dogwood had an absolute blast whipping up some scrumptious snacks! Since most of our families had planned to visit a farm, we dove into the world of fruits and veggies and discovered where they grow — whether underground, above ground, or in trees. Our Dogwoods have loved our community book “From Farm To Dogwood”.
To make our learning experience even more engaging, we rolled up our sleeves and tried out some simple recipes. Our Dogwood friends peeled, chopped, and roasted delicious sweet potatoes. Then we ventured to our local fruit stand to pick fresh apples for our delightful Cinnamon Apple Waffles. Many friends brought apples from their farm endeavors, which we transformed into the most delicious apple crisp. And to top it all off, we carved the most cheerful little pumpkin and baked some delightful pumpkin bread!

Two weekends ago, we led a nature walk through Forest Park with our families. The children got to do a nature scavenger hunt, walked on logs, picnicked by a beautiful pond, and just reveled in the calm and beauty of our world. It was a wonderfully grounding experience and a great way to continue to build community 💕
