Spring Field Day: Class of 2026

Four teams of our Class of 2026 Pre-Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten students, donning the vibrant tie-dyed t-shirts they made in class-- Blue, Yellow, Red, & Green-- gathered on the main field here on campus during a sunny late May afternoon for Spring Field Day.

Led by our lead Pre-K/TK faculty, Ms. Oliva, Ms. Megan & Ms. Jane, the day’s events included straight and staggered balance-beam courses, an egg-spoon balance race; hoop relays; a soccer weave relay race; and more. . . topped off with popsicles for all in our picnic grove!

TOUCH-a-TRUCK ROLLS INTO
RIDGEWOOD THIS THURSDAY!

Imagine taking a seat behind the wheel of a real police car that’s ready to roll, climbing aboard a shiny fire truck as you prepare to battle a blaze, exploring up-close a fleet of the other emergency and public works vehicles you’ve only seen at a distance on the streets of Ridgewood.

Treat your children to a day of hands-on adventure, featuring opportunities to climb on board the vehicles that touch their lives, when Ridgewood Touch-a-Truck Day 2026 rolls into downtown Ridgewood’s Memorial Park at Van Neste Square THIS THURSDAY, May 14.

Ridgewood emergency and public works vehicles will be ready for action along the Oak Street side of the park from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. as the local heroes who serve the Village also will be on hand to share their favorite tales about the exciting work they perform every day.
As an added bonus, they’ll be a Safetytown Kiddie-Car Driving Track hosted by the Ridgewood Police Department and Little Ivy Learning Center. . . a special Truck Storytime hosted by the Ridgewood Public Library and more!

Touch-a-Truck Day is a free community event co-sponsored by the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Ridgewood and coordinated by Little Ivy Learning Center as part of its ongoing commitment to serve our community’s children and their families.

Santa and his Elves will be traveling along East Ridgewood Avenue in his special Santa Cart starting @ 6:30 pm. They’ll be making frequent stops for you and your family to say hello as they make their way from just beyond Maple Avenue. . . all the way to the huge, lighted holiday tree @ the parking lot on East Ridgewood Avenue/Broad Street (@ approximately 8:15 pm/8:30 pm)!

NO KID’S GOING HUNGRY
IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!

This Thanksgiving season, our students have once again put their lessons in caring & sharing “In the Bag”

Amidst hands-on lessons & activities about taking care to watch out for one another, making healthy food choices, the fall harvest and Thanksgiving, each of our students decorated an empty shopping bag, brought it home and took responsibility for working with their parents to fill it with food to feed our local neighbors in need. Together, our Little Ivy community returned to school once again this year with a full bounty!

Watch as our Transitional Kindergarteners, Pre-Kindergarteners, Senior Nursery & Junior Nursery students set to work creating their bags to bring home for filling. . . and later sorting by food group and packing the bounty provided by their schoolmates families for pick-up and distribution this Thanksgiving by the Social Service Association of Ridgewood & Vicinity (www.ssaridgewood.org).

“In the Bag,” a key part of both our year-round “Caring & Sharing” and “Healthy Choices” curricula, is a Thanksgiving tradition here at Little Ivy Learning Center-- and would not be possible without the enthusiastic support of each of our students, families and teachers.

Let’s GO to the ZOO!

Join our Little Ivy Learning Center Pre-Kindergarten students as they explore the diverse wildlife at the Bergen County Zoological Park.

This week's field-trip adventure, part of their on-going investigation of Backyard Animals & Habitats, also included a look & learn with zoologists. . . and a ride with their teachers and parent-chaperones on BOTH a big yellow school bus and the zoo’s red-canopied steam train!
