Maryland FFA 98th State Convention recap…

🌟🐄 Caroline County FFA Shines at the Maryland State FFA Convention! 🐄🌟

Our FFA members had an incredible week at the Maryland State FFA Convention in Deep Creek, bringing home outstanding achievements and representing CCPS with pride!

🏆 Congratulations to our award winners:
⭐ Skylie Collins – Recipient of the prestigious FFA Star Greenhand Award
🎓 Elizabeth Johnson – Earned her Maryland State FFA Degree and received a $1,000 scholarship as well as a Tagged to Teach Ag student!

🌱 Horticulture Knowledge Bowl Team
🥈 2nd Place against 7 teams representing schools with horticulture programs!
👏 Gabi Roe, Raegan Peris, Abby Jones, and Danielle Ridgell

🚜 Agricultural Knowledge Bowl Team
🏅 4th Place against 13 competing teams! Abby Jones, Kara Saathoff, Raegan Peris and Gabi Roe

🐄Dairy Handling-4th place (Silver) Emma Hutchison
🐄Dairy Cattle Evaluation- Skylie Collins 10th place (Bronze) individual and 5th place team- Skylie Collins, Jo Bartz, Kelsey Lowery and Destiny Crites
🐖🐑🐐Livestock Judging- Abby Jarrell 8th place individual and 5th place team- Abby Jarrell, Raegan Peris, Gabi Roe and Aaron’s Dadds
🐓Poultry Evaluation- Adrianna Delmer placed 20th individually.

We would like to send a special Thank You to our chaperones Mrs. Neal, Mrs. Wendi Welch and Mr. Mike Brittingham and alumni VP Carlee Eierman for volunteering as a superintendent as well as judging several contests.

We are incredibly proud of all our FFA members for their hard work, dedication, and leadership. Thank you for representing CCPS so well and showcasing the talent and excellence of our agricultural education program.

Our members have been working hard to raise a litter of purebred Spots. We have 4 up for discussion. They range from 50-85 lbs. We would like to see them go to a jackpot family so they have a chance to be seen. If it doesn’t work out, we will consider selling them as BBQ pigs as they will be the perfect size for 4th of July!

We also have a purebred Berkshire ready for the freezer, we just don’t have any room. Looking to sell her by half or whole. We can haul to Sudlersville Meat Locker and you would send your cut sheet preferences.

12 members traveled to the Carroll County Career and Tech Center to compete in the Maryland FFA Spring Judging CDE’s. We had 3 teams- Ag Mechanics and Technology, Floriculture and Vet Science.

We will wait patiently to hear results later next week.

“Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve”. That’s the National FFA Motto and here in our little FFA chapter we live by it.

As National FFA Week is ending, we are celebrating National Pig Day! Yesterday we helped a local farmer by farrowing out his Spot gilt. While the lessons learned aren’t always easy in agriculture, one thing is easy-Living to Serve!

It was our honor to help out the farmer and our members learn more about swine reproduction, farrowing process, piglet care, and sow care.

We are excited to watch this litter grow!
