To Everyone Asking: I opened a daycare last October’22 in Ridgely. Myself and my husband completed the CPR infant/adult certificate. We thought we were doing everything by the book. We cared for children 6 weeks up to 4 years old. There were always 2 adults there sometimes 3 if need be. We kept children when other daycares were on vacation, sick or whatever. October ‘23 someone found it their business to call and report that we were not DHS certified . ( because they thought I charged too much a day to keep their twin grandchildren). DHS came and told me I was only allowed to keep 4 children until I got certified which consists of many hours of training, followed coding and zoning rules and so much more. I immediately had to call parents to come pick up their children that day. It was a sad 😞 day watching those Littles leave and seeing the worry on parents faces as they did not know who they could leave their precious babies with and for how long until I could keep them again- I started the long process that day jumping through the hoops and following all the rules. I have finally completed all the steps and now it’s up to them as to when I will be issued my certification. Some of the Littles I kept have found other sitters and will not be coming back and that truly breaks my heart😢💔-these Littles were not just kids, they were my heart and they trusted that I would take care of them. Some will come back and I’m greatful for that. I said all of that to say, I’m waiting to be contacted by DHS to get my certification as to when I can open full force again. Thank you all for staying in contact and praying for us.😢
