We had such a great time examining actual WW2 artifacts loaned to us by the The National WWII Museum with Operation Footlocker.

Students got to hold and analyze intelligence manuals, sand from the beaches at Normandy, see pieces of military uniform, compare allied and axis money, and so much more. For many of them, this was the first time they had held items of such significance and age. They had an incredible time and really got to practice their critical thinking skills as they answered questions and compared items to modern ones.

We’re so thankful for Operation Footlocker and the museum for allowing us the privilege of caring for these items and using them for study. We’re not close enough to the museum for regular visits, but this program allowed something just as valuable.

Box is packed and on its way back to the museum and its next classroom destination!
