Jalisia was awarded a $2,000 scholarship toward the Medical Assisting Program at Delta Technical College. After completing the program, she hopes to help others and ensure people receive the care and support they need. π©Ίπβ¨
π When asked who has been a big role model and supporter in her life, Jalisia shared that her mom has been her biggest inspiration. As a medical assistant herself, her momβs dedication to helping others, including those in need, inspired Jalisia to pursue a career in healthcare. ππβ¨
π‘ During high school, Jalisia learned that she has a caring heart and a passion for helping others. She shared that seeing people struggle affects her deeply and motivates her to do whatever she can to make a positive difference. πππ
π©βπ« Jalisia also spoke about the impact of Ms. Battle and Mr. Walker. She shared that both educators have encouraged her, helped prepare her for life after high school, and taught her important lessons about responsibility, planning for the future, and personal growth. βοΈππ

Coby was awarded a $2,000 scholarship toward the HVAC Program at Delta Technical College. After completing the program, he hopes to begin his career as an HVAC technician, continue building his skills, and eventually own and operate his own company. βοΈπ§β¨
π When asked who has been a big role model and supporter in his life, Coby shared that his father and grandfather have had the biggest influence on him. He explained that they taught him what it means to be a man, how to provide for others, and the importance of hard work and responsibility. ππβ¨
π‘ During high school, Coby learned that he is capable of handling adversity. He shared that overcoming challenges helped him grow stronger and more confident in himself and his future. ππβ¨
π©βπ« Coby also spoke about the impact of his 11th grade U.S. History teacher, Ms. Watkins. He shared that she helped him better understand his identity, navigate challenges, and gain perspective as a young African American man. βοΈππ

Martavius has ambitious plans for his future in the skilled trades. After completing the HVAC/R Program, he hopes to gain experience working in Texas before eventually opening his own company. His long-term goal is to build a successful business with a large warehouse operation, create opportunities for others, and establish a career that allows him to lead and make an impact. πͺπ½π’
A major influence in Martaviusβ journey has been his brother and father, who introduced him to electrical work during the summers. Working alongside them helped him discover a passion for hands-on trades and sparked his interest in HVAC. Those experiences not only taught him valuable skills but also showed him a career path that he genuinely enjoys and wants to pursue. π§β‘
Throughout high school, Martavius learned the importance of focusing on his goals, blocking out negativity, and staying committed to his dreams. He shared that one of the biggest lessons he learned was the need to work on himself, stay in the right lane, and not allow others to distract him from the future he wants to create. Jordan is excited to pursue a future in welding and hopes to apply his skills in the automotive industry. He is especially interested in working on motor vehicles, helping build and assemble components that keep vehicles running and performing at their best. Welding offers him the opportunity to combine technical skill with hands-on work, and he looks forward to exploring where the trade can take him. πͺ
One of Jordanβs biggest inspirations has been his uncle, whose interest and experience in welding first sparked Jordanβs curiosity about the trade. Wanting to follow in his footsteps and continue building his own skills motivated Jordan to pursue welding as a career path and take the next step toward professional training. πβ¨
Throughout high school, Jordan learned the importance of developing strong communication skills. He shared that his writing and listening abilities improved significantly over the years, helping him grow both academically and personally. Those skills will continue to serve him well as he enters the workforce and builds his career.
