Please help us welcome a wonderful new violin teacher to our faculty! 🎻

Meg Abramowitz is a Suzuki violin teacher with more than 20 years of teaching experience. A former Suzuki student herself, she holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Boston University and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from New England Conservatory.

Throughout her career, Meg has continued her Suzuki training with many respected teacher trainers, including Carrie Reuning-Hummel, Terri Einfeldt, Ed Sprunger, Christie Felsing, Ed Kreitman, and others. For the past 14 years, she has maintained a private violin studio in the Boston area, where she focused on creating a strong sense of community and making each child’s first experiences with music positive, engaging, and rewarding.

As the parent of three children who have all studied violin, Meg understands the Suzuki experience from both the teacher’s and parent’s perspectives. She values the close partnerships that develop between teachers, students, and families and believes that every child can flourish when supported with encouragement, patience, and high expectations.

When she is not teaching, Meg enjoys baking, spending time with her family, and taking walks with her dog, Otis, and snuggling with her cat, Nova.

Institute is always a highlight of Emory’s summer! He’s been going to the Suzuki Institute of Greater Washington, since he was 4. The teachers are engaging and inspiring, he makes tremendous musical growth, makes friends, loves the experience of playing in orchestra, and especially looks forward to Dr. Durbin’s Play In class because he truly makes playing violin full of joy and playfulness. It’s a family affair because his uncle directs the institute, his grandfather serves as one of the accompanists, and his cousin works there running recreation for the kids in between classes!

Miss Jessica recently returned from teaching at the Carlsbad Music Festival, which took place in Karlovy Vary, a beautiful town about 90 minutes outside of Prague. 25+ musicians from the US, Europe and China spent the week together participating in chamber music, masterclasses, topic specific classes, and taking a day trip to Prague. Ms. Jessica taught at the camp along with wonderful faculty from all around the world!
