At the end of each week we always make bread… the coveted ‘bread Friday’ :) This is a tradition that we’ve kept from the start and it always fills are hearts with delight. What better way to finish the week than with warm bread, butter and honey.

Some moments from our first week of February- the subtle stirrings of the earth! I like to imagine, at times, that the children are bear cubs and in these moments of jumping, rolling and wrestling we are exercising our innate desire to be grounded and connected in play with each other.🐻❤️

Out at Little Wing Farm, we stumbled on a squash patch we didn’t even plant! 🌱✨ From a lone, wandering seed, up came a surprise harvest. Together, we gathered armfuls of squash—working side by side to clean them up.

And because we love a good adventure, we’ve decided to share our bounty with our forest friends. We’re setting up a little squash feast in the woods, hoping to catch the critters on our wildlife cam. Will they nibble? Will they feast? Only the cam will tell!

Friday was such a fun day at Little Wingl! We had two special alumni come to visit, and we made seed and leaf people, played in the rain, and ran through the dahlia patch. We ended the day with “mud and worms” (chocolate pudding and gummy worms) to celebrate the end of Seed and Soil week. 🪱🌧️🌻

First big rain happened for us on Friday! We checked on ye ol’ mud pit and worked on getting a nice mud slide going~ and since it’s Friday we decided to have our Friday bread down by the fire, on a stick (we called this snake bread or unicorn bread ) There is so much to be happy about, we love you rain, we love you mud and we love you fire and toasty bread

We navigated our way down to a new area of the forest! 🌿 And we discovered the tree with 100 branches~ (an old old hazelnut tree with velvety leaves) time stands still when we are deep in immersive play in the heart of the woods.

A little life. A little gift.

To learn to love something so small. It’s easy for the children- to love the small things.

The things we adults tend to disregard… while the child pulls us down to their level to say, “no, no but THIS rock… now this one is special… “ (literally to every rock that ever existed). Hang out with a 4 year old for a day and your heart will open in ways you’d never imagine. 🌈💛

While our chicks are a special gift, it also helps us to teach the importance of care and responsibility for another life. Supporting empathy and thoughtfulness that will last a lifetime.❤️

Peace is felt when you can count on the daffodils to appear on the hill year after year, since childhood. We thank the farmer who put the first bulbs in the ground, many many years ago not knowing that their plantings would be providing joy to so many. To have them here, even now with how much the land has changed is a blessing.

:: Attuning to the land in a fast paced society is like finding an anchor that you can always hold onto- a touchstone, a place to kneel, to find solace. These prolific yellow blooms give us this anchor. ::
