🍎✨ Back to School. Back to Routine. Back to Montessori. ✨🍎

What a wonderful way to begin the 2026–2027 Academic Year! Although it was a short week, it was filled with joyful moments, new beginnings, and smiling faces.

This week our classrooms came alive once again as children settled into familiar routines, welcomed new friends, reunited with old friends, and rediscovered the joy of learning through exploration. From practicing grace and courtesy to carefully choosing work from the shelves, it has been beautiful to watch our Montessori community come back together.

The first days of school are about so much more than academics—they're about building confidence, creating connections, and fostering a love of learning that will grow throughout the year.

We are incredibly excited for all that this new academic year has in store and can't wait to watch each child learn, grow, and thrive.

Here's to an amazing 2026–2027 school year filled with curiosity, kindness, discovery, and countless moments of wonder. 💚🌿

Tomorrow is the day! We are excited to welcome families to our Little Hands, Big Discoveries: Montessori Open House & Play Day on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM, and we’d love your help spreading the word!

We’ll have a fun-filled morning for children and families, including:

✈️🍁⛩️ This week our little explorers stamped their passports and journeyed to Canada and Japan!

Rainy weather couldn't stop our adventures! 🌧️🐸 While exploring outdoors, our students discovered tiny ladybugs, caught baby frogs, and experienced the wonder of nature firsthand.

Throughout the week, our young travelers explored:
🍁 Canada's beautiful landscapes, wildlife, and traditions
⛩️ Japan's rich culture, customs, and way of life
🍎 Making delicious apple donuts during our hands-on food preparation activity
🎨 Creative art, practical life activities, cultural lessons, and Montessori work inspired by both countries

We wrapped up an incredible week the best way we know how—with smiles, laughter, and a Bounce House Friday before heading into the weekend! 🎉

At Brazos Learning Montessori School, every week is an adventure where children explore the world through hands-on experiences, meaningful connections, and the joy of discovery.

Did you know that reading and writing begin long before a child ever picks up a pencil? 🌱

In a Montessori environment, we intentionally strengthen fine motor skills from the toddler years because these small hand movements are the foundation for future reading and writing success.

As children transfer, sort, pinch, grasp, twist, and manipulate materials, they are developing: ✨ Hand strength for holding a pencil ✨ Finger control for forming letters ✨ Bilateral coordination (using both hands together) ✨ Hand-eye coordination ✨ Concentration, independence, and confidence

These everyday Montessori activities may look like "just play," but they are carefully designed to prepare the child's hand and brain for writing—and eventually reading.

We don't rush academics. Instead, we build the foundation first, allowing children to develop the skills they need naturally and joyfully. By the time they are ready to write, their hands are strong, their movements are refined, and their confidence is already growing. ❤️

At Brazos Learning Montessori School, every activity has a purpose, and every small movement is preparing children for lifelong learning.
