What is Montessori?

Montessori education is a child-centered approach to learning developed by Maria Montessori in the early 1900s. It’s based on the idea that children learn best when they’re given freedom within a structured environment that supports their natural curiosity and development.

Here’s what makes Montessori education distinct:

🌱 Child-led learning

Instead of a teacher directing the whole class, children choose activities based on their interests. This helps build independence, confidence, and a genuine love of learning.

🧠 Hands-on materials

Montessori classrooms use specially designed materials that encourage learning through touch and exploration—especially for concepts in math, language, and sensory development.

🏫 Prepared environment

The classroom is carefully organized to promote independence. Everything is child-sized and accessible, so students can move, choose work, and clean up on their own.

👩‍🏫 Teacher as a guide
