Virginia Union University proudly announces the reaffirmation of accreditation for the Sydney Lewis School of Business by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), recognizing the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student success.

The reaffirmation reflects the strength and quality of the Sydney Lewis School of Business and its ongoing success in preparing students to lead in an evolving global marketplace. “At the Sydney Lewis School of Business, we remain committed to advancing opportunity, innovation, and economic mobility through high-quality business education,” said Wendy Jewell, Dean of the Sydney Lewis School of Business.

“The reaffirmation of accreditation by ACBSP is a powerful validation of the excellence, rigor, and relevance that define the Sydney Lewis School of Business,” said Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President and CEO of Virginia Union University. “This achievement reflects the trust our students, alumni, faculty, and corporate partners place in us and our commitment to preparing future business leaders who are equipped to innovate, lead with integrity, and drive economic and social mobility.”

The reaffirmation recognizes the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and students and highlights the school’s focus on leadership development, experiential learning, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurial thinking.

At Virginia Union University, commencement is more than a ceremony—it’s the celebration of resilience, purpose, and legacy. 🎓✨

Today, Lawanda White and her daughter, Kamesha Bell, will walk across the stage together as graduates, proving that determination, faith, and family can shape generations.

Lawanda, a Health Science graduate and three-time Dean’s List scholar, now prepares to continue her journey into a doctoral pharmacy program. Kamesha, graduating in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education, leaves behind a legacy of leadership, scholarship, and service as a four-year Rah Rah, Miss Junior, and member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.

Together, they balanced life, academics, and personal commitments—motivating one another every step of the way.

Their story embodies the spirit of VUU: Student Success. Academic Excellence. Community Impact.
