High school diploma or the equivalent, and Two years of college (48 units), or

Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.

Engineering Career Technical Education Teacher: looking for an engineering teacher with industry experience to teach our 11th and 12th grade classes. No single subject credential needed. Just work experience.

Dear Richmond High School Community and Alumni,

I am writing to provide an update regarding recent discussions about our school's mascot. After a period of thoughtful consultation with alumni spanning many different graduating classes, it is clear that our community holds a deep and unwavering connection to our identity. Consequently, I want to confirm that there is no plan to change the Richmond High School mascot.

As an alum myself, I share your immense pride in being an Oiler. Richmond High, formerly Richmond Union High School, holds the distinction of being the first high school in the city of Richmond, and "Oilers" has been our original name since we first opened our doors in 1907. This title represents over a century of rich history, honoring the hard-working blue-collar roots of our city and the generations of families who have walked our halls. This is a legacy that defines us and one that we will continue to honor.

I also want to address certain rumors: the "llamas" was never a consideration for a replacement, and any suggestions that a mascot change was being driven by shifts in demographics are unfounded. Our commitment is to the shared history that unites all Oilers, regardless of when they graduated.

We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming feedback and passion shared by our alumni. Your emails have provided even more insight into the vibrant history of our school and city, and we appreciate your dedication to preserving our heritage.
